Transition to Bathtub
« on: May 25, 2007, 03:06:30 am »
so every night, we give our 6-month-old a bath before bedtime. up until now, we've been using the infant tub, though about a month ago, we started thinking maybe she was getting too big! yeah, we're a little slow.....

plus, she sits up now, still falling over occassionally (if she turns her head too much or reaches too far).

so we want to use the big tub for our next bath. I did a search and found a couple of tips, but still have questions.

first of all, my brother and his wife gave us a bath seat (this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2373646&cp=2255976.2256088.2256094&parentPage=family ). we tried it once before, and I'm wondering, how much water do you put in? and, how do you wash their hair when they are sitting up without getting it in their eyes?

I'm also looking into toys for the tub and wondering if I should get a tub pad or something to use instead of the seat?

can anyone give me advice?

thank you in advance!

hi

we were a bit 'slow' with transferring Maja to the bathtub [we bathed her in our living room, on the coffee table ;) until she was 7mo or sth, lol].
anyway, never have used the bath seat, only the tub pad. works great for us.
the amount of water- up to her waist line more or less.
washing her hair- well, you still can lean her backwards to wash her hair and avoid the water going to her eyes, but TBH I don't do that at all now, dd's used to having the water on her face and even in her eyes and is fine with it.
toys- those rubber ducks really ARE a great thing! :D

Hi Tara
We have a similar bath seat, which is great as Leo can share a bath with his brother withourt risk of a tidal wave - they both LOVE to splash each other  ::)
As he sits unsupported in the seat, I can use the shower head to wash his hair (what little he has  :-\), sweeping the suds back from his face with the other hand - although we do use a no more tears shampoo too.
You can also get a shampoo shield but I've never used one as I have traumatic memories of one as a child ::)
I fill the tub up to Leo's waist - although there seems to be considerably less water in the bath at the end!!
