9 mo. sleeping really badly
« on: May 26, 2007, 20:14:38 pm »
My DD is 9 months old and she hasn't slept through the night since she was 3 months old, and her naps are sketchy.  I just don't know what to do anymore.  Her naps range from 30-50 minutes and every now and then she'll sleep for more than an hour.  Anyway, she'll wake up after a short nap happy but within 45 minutes she gets fussy and acting tired, but won't go back down.  I feel like a yoyo with her.  Her night times are aweful too, but I'll save that for the night waking board.  Here is her schedule:  it's 4.5-5 hour

8am Wake and BF
10:30 nap
11:15-11:30 Wake
12:30-1 BF and eat
3:30 Nap
4:30 Wake
4:30-5 BF and Eat
7pm sleep
8pm Wakes up and won't go back to sleep (even if I try feeding her again)
9-10 Finally goes back to sleep
12:30am Wakes up
3am Wake again (BF bad habit I know)
6:30 wake yet again but falls back asleep when I hold her

She just started crawling a couple weeks ago and then she got sick for two weeks, but she's been better for a week.  She is starting to stand a little.  So maybe this is a growth thing?  I just don't know what to do anymore.  She goes down for naps pretty well, nights are a little harder.  Lately, she hasn't been wanting to eat solids anymore so I don't know what that's all about.

I'm going crazy, so any help anyone can give would be greatly apreciated!

Thanks,
Joy ???

Does she have anything going on medically like reflux? Is she teething? It could definitely be developmental as well, the mobility milestones are terrible on sleep.

No, nothing medical.  She was sick for two weeks a couple of weeks ago but she's fine now. she's not teething either.  She has started standing up lately.  She wakes up 2-3 times a night acting like she's starving too... which doesn't make any sense to me.

Thanks for your help!

Perhaps she's having a growth spurt. You might try offering another feed somewhere in the day to see if that helps.

I'm going back down to a 4hr EASY to see if it helps.  Last night was a lot better.  Her naps are maxing out at 1 hour.  She still seams tired when she gets up but she won't fall back asleep.  She started standing up in her bed now too.

Thanks again!
