Help ... DS refusing to nap
« on: June 04, 2007, 12:05:15 pm »
Hi

I am literally at my wits end - My 11wk DS just cannot nap during the day.  I have literally tried everything (winding down, shh/pat etc) and usually he will end up sleeping on my chest.  When he's on my chest he can nap for 1 1/2hours or more but as soon as you put him in the crib his eyes will either immediately open or 20mins later he will wake crying.  The thing that baffles me the most is that it is so easy to put him into bed at night.  His routine for the last 2 days is as follows:

7am - Feed
745 - Bath
8 - watch for signs of sleepiness and start to wind down
830 /9 - attempt to nap - sleep for 20mins (yesterday i was lucky and he napped for 45mins)

10 - feed
1045 - activity (nappy change / in bouncer)
1115 - attempt to nap again  - end up crying and no napping
(the above cycle carry on throughout the day until 4pm)

4pm - feed
4.45 - activity / bath
5 - exhausted from not napping the whole day that he wants to sleep on my chest
630pm - bath
7pm - feed
730pm bed

10pm - dreamfeed
1am - feed (usually given like a dream feed)
4am feed (same as the 1am feed)

It is just so frustrating!  If someone could advise ... thanks :P

Hi, I just wanted to point out that:
if the first nap is short---so 40mins yesterday, then you need to adjust EASYand bring the next nap forward,
so say yesterday I would have fed at 9:50 am or so and then only activity is a diaper change and quick winddown and in to crib. A nap at 11:15 is far too late after a 40min nap.

Hi

Yes at night when i put him down he sleeps until morning only making a little noise when it's time to feed him during the night but he doesn't actually wake up.

Ok i will try to adjust EASY and hope it works.

Thanks so much
