ok, i need some help here. my ds is 13 months and his naps are becoming all messed up. he WAS doing fine for a while but then his pm naps started to get shorter and shorter so with the help of the ladies here, we decided to shorten am nap to 30-45 minutes in hopes that his pm nap would lengthen. it worked for a couple of days and then he started waking very early again like 5:45-6:00am and also his pm naps wouldn't be more than an hour. so i went back to letting him sleep longer in the am like an hour to an hour and half but then his pm nap was and is still very short, like 40 minutes or so. last week he started waking in the night again... i think maybe this time it was his teeth.
but anyway, yesterday he slept about 45 minutes for his am nap (on his own--i didn't have to wake him) and then his pm nap was only about an hour. today he slept about an hour & 10 minutes for am and 40 minutes for pm nap. oh ya, he has been waking very early again in the morning about 5:45 both yesterday & today which pushes everything forward for the day.
his awake time is about 3 hours to 3.5 hours. today in between am nap and pm nap i had him stay awake for 3.5 hours...cuz i thought he may needed a longer awake time to legthen pm nap and it didn't work. sooooo do you think he is ready for 1 nap??? he certainly gets very tired in the am. putting him down for his am nap is so easy...he fights his pm nap. if he continues to wake very early how do you do 1 nap without it starting at 10 or 11? what if he only sleeps an hour with 1 nap? i guess my goal is to get him to sleep a good pm nap. our typical day...........
7:00-ish wake for day (although yesteday & today 5:45/6:00)
8:00 breakfast
10:00 nap (yesterday & today 9:00) this is where i don't know if i should continue to wake him at 30-45 min? or let him sleep until he wakes on his own?
??
12:00 lunch
2:00 nap (yesterday 1:00 & today 2:00) he only sleeps 40 min to an hour no matter what happens earlier so far.....
5:00 dinner
6:45 bath
7:15 bed (yesterday 6:50 asleep)
so should i continue with waking him at 30-45 minutes in the am??? does is take time to "kick in"?
thanks for you help and sorry about the rambling...i am feeling soooo frustrated over this!!!!
