A little help with routine
« on: June 07, 2007, 13:27:15 pm »
Hi all, recently I've found we are rushing around a lot and seem to constantly late going about our routine. DS also takes a long time to fall asleep for nap and we are dealign (or not dealing with early wakeups ...urgh) I'm thinking our routine needs tweaking? What do u think
It WAS
wake 7 am
nap 12.30 till about 2.30
dinner at 6.15
bath 7
bed by 7.30 latest

It NOW IS
wake between 5.45 and 6.30
nap around 1sh but falls asleep about 1.30 till 3.30 when i wake him up
dinner 6.30
bath 7
bed by 7.30 and crashes out

I'm thinking he's overtired by naptime as he's awake a lot longer but since we are sleep training I can't control when he falls asleep and it means he sleeps till 3.30 pm when i wake him (which i hate doing)

Any advice on EW and nap times very much appreciated :)

What happens if you try to use whatever sleep training method you're using to get him back to sleep in the morning? I think you're right about over tired. 5:45/6:30 am and a 1:00 nap is probably too much awake time for him.

Hmmm. What you're describing sounds identical to what my DS does when he gets into overtired cycle. He started it (the bed time battle and the early wakes) out of the blue one night and I figured out after 2 painful weeks that it was his teeth bothering him. Have you tried giving tylenol before nap and again at bath to see if maybe that helps him at all?

thanx soooooooooo much for the insight, couldnt seem to find a reason for the EW but i think the overtiredness may well be the culprit....RIGHT tomorrow I WILL get him to bed earlier...sometimes feel this is all we do! Actually been thinking about this and because he has abottle before bedtime then winddown is really long prior to bedtime whereas nap time I have been sort of chucking him into bed 10mins after lunch :-\
