Long nap problem!!!
« on: June 11, 2007, 20:40:51 pm »
I know all the threads are about how to extend naps but I have the opposite problem.

After 16 months I thought I'd finally cracked it!
12hours a night and one 2 hour (sometimes 2hr 30min!) nap.
Up at 7am and bed at 7pm - perfect!
It was consistent for about a month, went down awake and drifted off to sleep every time - bliss........

Then it broke - boo.............
Started waking at 8am and still having a 2 hour or more nap!
So he started having 13hours a night.

Now he won't go to bed as he's not tired, staying up over 2 or 3 hours late past bedtime!

I started getting him back up at 7am but he's still not tired at bedtime?
Should I cut back his nap? Or has my blissful routine gone forever??

I had to cut back the nap at this point, and then my DS would be tired enough for bed! Try it and see, can't hurt HTH  :-*

He was having over 2 hours!

Not 100% on length, I think I did gradual withdrawal of mins if you get what I mean to see what suited DS. For example, I cut back 15 mins off 2 hrs and saw how he did, and then if there was no change, half an hour.  I think you can tell what works, too much off = grumpy rest of the day.  What time does he go sleep.  I found if I put Jack down later than 11:30am, he would not sleep at 7 as was not tired enough IYKWIM
