Just wondering what you guys keep in your medicine cabinet / first aid kit for your toddlers scratches and scraped knees and insect bites and all that "wonderful" summer stuff.

Maybe not for first aid, but I generally try to make sure we have sunblock, bug spray, and some food/water with us at all times.

arnica granules and cream - for bumps
Bach rescue cream - for everything else!

Otherwise, (on a good day) and not just for dd, and for more than trips to the zoo  ;)
bandaids
antiseptic
little swiss army knife (with scissors and tweezers)
paracetamol (or any other painkiller)
gauze
a sling
one of those little foil emergency blankets
crepe bangage
a whistle
a mobile telephone! With the mountain rescue number stored in it!!

sun lotion
bug repellant and after bite stick
antihistamine tablets

I think that's about it  :P

Great thread Sunshine's Mum.  Great lists Katie and Erin!  Here's my 2 cents/pence:

The mother of all cure all's-Sudocream.  Not just for nappy rash! Great for bites, minor abbrassions, scrapes, irritations, sun burn etc.. I have used it as a sun block on my DS's tips of his ears as it contains such a high level of zinc.  I have used it on my bikini line after shaving and it is great for that too!  I used it after birth on my bum to help shrink my skin tags and piles!  :-[ :P

I am an ARNICA cream advocate.  I pull this stuff out at all playgroups and so many Mum's do not know about it and are amazed as they watch their child's giant goose egg go down.  They run to the store to buy some after!

Soft gel ice packs in the freezer are handy too.  If camping or travelling, you can buy the instant freeze packs, that you "smash" and they release tiny chemical beads that produce freezing compounds.

Also a good time to remind all that it only takes a half day to learn CPR/First Aid.  Visit your local Red Cross or St.John's Ambulance websites for more info.  Local colleges and government programmes also offer courses.   :)  Thanks!  ::) :-[

This is awesome, ladies!!!

I've got the traditional First Aid Kit, but I was just wondering if there is anything special for toddlers.  Especially, when you go to the park with LO, he/she scrapes her knee and you have to run home because it's bleeding...  You probably know this situation better I do as my LO just started walking this winter.

So I wanted to put together something that I can keep in my stroller and so I don't have to rush home.  Do you know what I mean???

So keep these ideas coming!!! 8)

One thing I can recommend, as here recently, DD had such a terrible nappy rash....specifically a yeast type of rash...is anti-fungal cream.  In the U.S. our doctor recommends Lotrimin AF available over the counter.  Now I know to have a tube handy  just in case...
