Thanks Melissa and Sylvia!
Feeling better this evening. Although it took him nearly an hour to fall asleep tonight, he fell asleep with me sitting in a chair about a metre away from the cot, so I AM making progress! and 2 nights in a row he hasn't woken til around 4am, then again around 6.45. That's pretty good!

The question is, will earlier or later bedtime/naptime help??? Trial and error I guess! ::)

Exactly!  Trial and error.  I would suggest making things earlier or take a look at how much A time he is having it may be stretching him a little too much.  When we were having troubles with Tallie playing instead of sleeping I just shifted things about 30min-1hr earlier and kept A time no more then 5.5hrs (of course it isn't always like that we mess things up a lot on the weekends and she still sleeps so...)  Just try different things and see what works for him.  Good Luck!!  You are doing great, it seems that he is starting to come out of the overtiredness with the less NW and all.  Keep it up!!
