New FAQ in Naps for 10/11mo with wonky naps!
« on: June 24, 2007, 11:46:50 am »
Hi everyone
just to let you know we have made an addition to the FAQ section in Naps.
If your 10/11mo has started having nap problems, eg refusing the nap or playing at naptime, then check this out first as it might be just what you need!

hope this helps!

wow, thanks, that has been really helpful

can i please ask this question here with regards to the following?

This will encourage your lo to start sleeping longer at night so they can’t “catch up” that lost night sleep so quickly.

does that mean that by not letting them sleep too, a later nap, it will (may) encourage them to sleep longer, getting the sleep they want/need

hi sylvia
sorry if it wasn't clear!
Basically what I am trying to say is that if lo is persistently waking early, if they know they can make up that lost sleep by taking a nice long nap in a couple hours time, there is no "incentive" to carry on sleeping until an acceptable wake up time (lol) But if you push that first nap later, and are cutting back the daytime sleep too, then gradually lo learns to extend their night sleep later instead.
this is exactly what happened with us at the start of the transition- Sophie would still take 2 1.5hr naps but want to start her day before 5am  :P Took about 4 weeks of gradual change to sort it out totally x
