Tuesday  - unsure of times at my mums
Up at 7am
Slept 30mins in morning
Slept 1 hour in afternoon
Asleep by about 8.40pm

Wednesday
Always a strange day as we attend a class which she loves and is at normal morning nap time.
Up at 7am
11.15 – 12 noon slept.
Got very tired just as getting ready for dinner but came round
Asleep after bath at 8.15pm.

Thursday
Up at 7am
Slept 10.10am – for 1.5 hours
Had a great day finally took more than 4 steps on her own !!!!!
Not interested in afternoon nap.

Now the strange bit.
Had bath and milk as normal, then started pointing over to the unit, after process of trying everything we figured that she pointing over to the basket where her cold medicine and spoon were sitting and she was wanting some.  Since last Saturday she has had medicine at bedtime as we all have had the cold but I never gave her any before her milk last night.  (thinking about things she stated sleeping better on the Sunday).

This happened a few weeks ago when she was cutting a molar she had medicine one night and the next night was pointing and wanting it before we got the chance to get it.

Have we got a little girl who is smart and knows that medicine makes her better or does she now want it as her routine and it helps her go to sleep????

Friday

Up at 6am took milk very fast ( did not eat a lot for dinner last night)
Then fell asleep on my lap, put her beside dad while I got shower  two of them slept until  got them up at 8am.  DD is now with my mum and dad today as I am at work.

Letting her take a long morning nap will lead to fighting her afternoon nap so its either you try to push that nap until its close to midday or you shorten it & let her sleep in the pm. Bedtime is a little late if she's not sleeping in the afternoon & you don't want her to be awake for longer than 5-5.5hrs bedtime. So I would suggest bedtime of around 6pm on those days. Be careful with letting her stay awake for that long... she might start waking up earlier and earlier.

Not sure about the medicine ???. If she's teething & its helping her with pain then I would give but you don't want to give it to her longer than the bottle's recommendation.

Is she going to sleep on her own? Are you doing the wi/wo?

What I think we have to is push the morning nap later and work towards one nap.  As even the days she has been taking a short nap she just does not want to sleep in the afternoon.  Last night we would probably have been down earlier but DH needs to learn how to enter house without the whole world knowing.

Was wanting an earlier bed, but we spent so long throwing dinner around the kitchen, and then once daddy came in things just slowed down ( need to change his routine I think!!)  She just wanted to walk up and down the hall between us and DH is a soft touch at times with her.

Anyway will try and lay down the law with both of them and will try to push that nap later than 10am

Last night she fell asleep in her cot and not in my arms for a change , I was sitting on the floor half way to the door.

Many thanks

Wendy.

Layla

Just an update - we have been working towards one nap at present 11.30 ish - 1.30pm ish, this has resulted in a far better bed time routine i.e. in bed before 8pm.  Only problem is the two days she is at my parents as they know best and will not listen to me.  ( Seeking advice in relationships board)

Thanks so much for all your help and advice.

Wendy

Wendy, great to hear things are working out! You have to talk to your parents & be straight out with them. If what they are doing is causing night wakings or disturbing her routine, you need to tell them.... I'm sure you'll get good advise on your post
