Brooke I am sort of in the same spot you are.  We went on vacation and Joey did one nap great.  Now when we got back, I put him on one nap.  But he's showing some OT signs.  He only sleeps 1.5 hours for nap (sometimes 1.25 and sometimes 2 hours).  But at night he's sleeping 7-7 just about every night!

Today I'm going to offer the morning nap and see how he does.

Me again...

How long after wake up do you offer the first catnap?  My son was showing tired signs about 2.5 hours after waking so I put him down and he's not having it.  How long do I keep him in his crib before getting him up?

Joey seems extra tired today and I'm guessing he is since I've only been giving one nap for awhile now so he probably feels the need to catch up.  With that said, would you put him down 3 hours after first nap or move it earlier since he's so tired?

ARRGH!  I hate these transitions!  So today I gave him two naps for the first time a long time.....he finally fell asleep in the morning after 30 mins.  I woke him at 30 mins.  I put him in for his pm nap 3 hours later and he's still not sleeping.  He's not crying, but whining.  Its been 30 mins since he's been in there.  Time to transition?  I hate to do 20 mins in the morning and then 2 hours later because I do have an older child to deal with as well and that would basically keep us at home all day!

Finally got a good days sleep out of her  ;D

she had 2 NW last night but I think was hot, she was yelling "juuuuu" translated means juice which is what she calls all drink in whatever form  ::) and guzzled water down like no tomorrow. Anyhow she woke sometime between 6.30 and 6.45 closer to the latter I think.  I put her down for a nap at 11am as any sooner and she just wont have it, i gave her 20Min's nap then put her back down at 1pm she was asleep by 1.15 and slept till 3.10  ;D Put her down for bed at 7pm and she took about 10Min's to go to sleep.  Perfect, now all we need is one good night and I might be tempted to try 1 nap again.

45 min nap at daycare yesterday.  Last night, slept from 6:45 to 5:45 - exactly 11 hours (again, waking when daddy went to work LOL),  but I went in, she was cold and didn't seem ready to get up (and I wasn't ready cause I am not well LOL) so I brought her in to my bed where I figured she would roll around and chat a bit, but at least would be relaxing - well darned if she didn't go back to sleep and catch up that extra 45 mins she needed! So total night sleep (excluding the awake period in the early AM) 11.75, nap yesterday 45 = total daysleep of 12.5 :o how is that for consistant!

Oh, and the 11 hr stretch she did was without a single peep - not even a need for herself to resettle, another point to Natasha! ;) ;D

I all.  I have decided it is time to start this transition.  it has been a really crazy past 2 days of him refusing his afternoon nap then yesterday it was his morning nap.  today I shortened his morning nap to 45 min and 3 hours later here we are and he is in bed crawling around and complaining off and on.  I am kind of confused byt his whole thing, so I was wondering if you guys could give me an Idea of times for naps.  he has always been a champion night sleeper and so his morning stretch is always longer then most. his nap usually starts around 11:00.  so if I shorten that to be 45 min he would be up at 11:45ish then down again at 3:15ish.  is that right?  he has been so weird the past few days.  I am wondering where my angel went.  he has been throwing tantrums and been grumpy and everything and I am just about ready to give him back and get a new one! ;)  his bed times have been horrible too.  I am hoping this will help me to sort this all out.  thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Melissa,
so when is he waking up for the day and when is his bedtime?

Noah is officially drivine me batty!
woke playing this am from 5am til 6:15 agin and then slept til 7:15, got a whole 10hrs last night!
then napped today 12:15-2:15
bed for 7pm, played til 7:40pm
I am very hopeful for no play session and a normal wake time tommorow--closer to 6:30/7am
playing in the early am is throwing off his am wake time, his nap time and pushing bedtime. I know that he is OT, but the whole eary nap/early bedtime is not working.

ok, Melissa..
so he's maybe asleep by 8pm then?

maybe try a 30min am nap, and then long nap 2.5-3hrs later.
so nap 11-11:30
nap 2/2:30-4
asleep by 8pmish?

So turned out she was still a little OT last night as she woke up at 45min mark after going to bed last night but 1 PD and she went straight back to sleep.  So we are still going for 2 naps today.  20min am nap worked well yesterday so we will if it works as well today  ;)

Mellissa, I guess I'm suggesting the 30min am nap since he refused sleep after 40min yetsreday, right?
