I think you're right, don't try and tackle too many things at once and get the OT sorted first.
....cos it is that easy  :P

Ollie's been awake once already tonight so am expecting a crappy one. Just what we need the night before a busy day out!

Yes, while we think they're asleep, Lily and Ollie are chatting on the MummyStresser website sharing their best tips  ;D

We actually just had a growth spurt and are getting back to normal.

She was sleeping 12/12.5 hr nights and 2-2.5hrs naps.  It was so nice.

Now we are back to less sleep and figuring out where things stand now.

It's always something.

;D no NW's just an early start of 5.40am but thats an improvement on 5/5.20am so mummy is super happy today.  Went down for 1nap at 10.50 was asleep within 10mins.  I still had to stay next to cot but thats a huge improvement.

I'm not going to actually say it, for fear of jinxing myself, but I'm sure you all know what I'm thinking  ;)

;D 1 1/2hr nap, she woke after 45mins, (bloody noisy neighbour bouncing her empty wheelie bin down the passage between our houses) but she went back to sleep within 5mins.  In bed for 5.30 asleep by 6pm with very little help by me.

Still not saying it, but Oooohhhh......

So pleased to hear you've had a better day NewMum! I think if you keep giving them the opportunity to sleep they eventually start to take it. Obviously none of us are quite at the end of the road yet (as if!) but at least some days we feel we're on the right track  :)

We're in for an interesting couple of days I think - we've been at a wedding today so he had 45 min nap in the car from 1pm (after 6:45 wake up... 6:45!! How good is that!!) and then was awake until we were in the car coming home at 9pm. He slept for 45 mins then woke and cried the last 15 mins of the journey. I rocked him back to sleep when we got home, well, cos I wanted to. He's been an angel all day  :-*

Anyone fancy taking a bet on how many NWs, what time he wakes in the morning? Do you think he will have a crappy night tonight or will he have a good night cos he's so shattered but then be a mess for the next couple of days instead?

So many possibilities  ::)

Well, a relatively good night. One NW at 2:45 (exactly same time as the night before!) and went straight back to sleep then woke for the day at 6:45  :)

But, since he only had 10 hours sleep in total yesterday, I've decided to put him on an early bed schedule - nap 12, bedtime 5:30 - and hope that he takes advantage of the opportunity to catch up.

Fingers crossed!

Glad you had a good day and that Ollie was so well behaved for you ;D.  and that you had quite a good night.  I will keep my fingers crossed he catches up today  ;)

Lily had another really good night.  She woke at 9.30pm last night but went back to sleep no problem and slept till 5.30am.  It was particularly dark this morning and mummy had a very late night last night, so I thought I would try to get her to go back to sleep.  I laid her down, stood over her for a while then curled up on floor under a blanket.  Took about 30Min's but she went back to sleep (and mummy went back to bed ;D) and slept till 6.40am.  I put her back down at 11.40 took a couple of Min's to fall asleep, so, so far today, so good.  Bit worried as the neighbours have got a builder in today hammering and banging just a few feet away from Lily's bedroom  ::) which is typical, but what can you do  ???

So much for the early bed schedule! He did have a 2 hour nap from 12-2, which is VERY rare for him, he's usually 1.5 on the dot. But decided to take him out toy shopping this afternoon instead of rushing back to give him his dinner at 4.
Put him down at 6:20pm, fell asleep at.... can you guess? Yep, 7:20pm again!

I'm taking this as an indication that we may be able to just jump back to a sensible schedule rather than nudging things 15 mins every day. He's had a couple of days waking at 6:45, which was his old wakeup time way back before everything went to pot. So, I'm going to be brave... with a 6:45 wake, I'm going to keep him up for a 1pm nap and then a 6:45 bedtime (asleep by 7:20 I assume!). It's a lot longer A time in the morning, but he seems to cope with that OK.

I reckon this might potentially give me 2 weeks of decent sleep before baby no 2 arrives to disrupt the lot!!

New mum: sounds like Lily's doing loads better - what do you reckon then, was all the difficulty getting her to settle to do with OT or do you think that you've done things differently to handle the SA?

Okay, I need help.  After posting a few weeks ago all has started to unravel.  To begin again, I have a 14 month DD who has up until the last few weeks been consistently waking between 6 - 6:30 am and going down between 7:00 - 7:30 pm.  We had few NW and those few could be quickly stopped by reinserting the soother.  She was taking 2 naps usually around 1 - 1.5 hours each and was good to go.

So that was my past here's my present.  To preface I believe some of these factors may be in play.  We went on a holiday at the beginning of August that included hotels, tenting and lots of driving, my DD has just begun to walk over the last few weeks and I believe she may have new teeth coming in.  Since we came back from our trip we have been having a horrible time getting her to sleep at night.  She doesn't want to go to sleep without being held and we have been trying just staying in the room but this doesn't work.  The last couple of nights I have resorted to putting my hand on her chest until she falls asleep.

Also she has been having NW during the night and it has been taking at least an hour to get her back to sleep.  We have been trying to get her down to one nap so we figured after reading previous posts that she may be OT and that's why she's waking up.  So today after waking at 7:30 we put her down at 11am and then woke her around 11:40 am (actually she woke and was replacing the soother when I got her up).  We then tried from 1:30 - finally getting her to sleep (hand on chest again)  at 3:10pm.  My question is now she is not going to want to go to sleep until really late if I leave her until 4pm to sleep and even then she won't have had enough nap sleep and will probably have a nasty nW tonight.    I just need some ideas of what I should be doing differently.  We seem to be stuck in a transition phase but she usually doesnt' stick this long.   :-[

I would love to put her to bed earlier but we are stuck in a bad cycle.  She's going to bed later because nap #2 has been ending later and I've been having such a hard time getting her to sleep at night.  The usually means she is getting up later in the morning which then again throws the schedule all off.

I just spend an hour getting her to go to bed for the night.  She used to be so easy to put to bed.  Bath, story, bottle, cuddle, put in bed and leave her to go to sleep has been the routine for almost 10 months now.  We did all the sleep training from about 6 weeks old and after about 4 mos she's been very good.  It's very frustrating.  I'm not sure if I should go back to PU/PD.  I tried yesterday and she's so heavy now and it didn't do anything that I could tell.  Is anybody else going through changes with LO this age?  I'm afraid I'm getting roped into games that I'm going to pay for later.

MommaHolmes - I think to start with our problem was teething & OT.  When she cut her last front tooth I stupidly thought, yay break for a while, didn't realise she was working on 2 molars at same time.  As apart from it upsetting sleep she doesn't get grumpy with her teeth.  Then what I know happened was I quickly lost the plot over sleep and was getting more and more angry when she wouldn't sleep.  So I think it was more a fear of going to bed and struggling to get to sleep then mummy getting cross with her than SA.  Since I calmed down and stopped getting stressed so has she.  It was like we were both ready for battle at bed/nap times.  I'm still in her room, but edging further away from cot each day. So hopefully we will be back to normal there soon.

Lily's sleep is still not quite right, we are getting more 1.5hr naps but generally she wakes at 45Min's and needs resettling we have also had another 1hr15 OT nap. Also been doing 45min wake up at bedtime which generally means OT at bedtime. Last night she was very restless and woke at 11.50pm, I didn't get out of room till 1.50am  ::)  Tried to get out 2 times both times she caught me  >:( She woke this morning at 5.45 so not too bad although still not good and went down at 10.45, so we will see how today pans out.  One things for sure bedtime will be about 5/5.30 tonight  ;)
