Hi everyone,

I really hope you have some advice for me!  We moved my son to his big boy bed about 2 months ago.  At first everything was fine.  He was so excited about his new bed with the ladder.  He consistently stayed put until after his sleep.  Then he would get up and quietly play for 10-20 minutes before calling me.  I allowed him to get up after night-night was over, because he was playing so nice and he's always needed a little extra time to wake up and be social.

My husband and I took a trip and left our son for the first time.  He was with our friends, his godparents.  They took a family trip and all the kids slept in sleeping bags on the floor.  My friend called and complained that Weston was getting up when he should be sleeping.  I thought it was because he'd never slept in a sleeping bag, on the floor or in the room with other kids.  I assumed he would revert back to his usual routine when he came back home.  HE DID NOT!

Once home, Weston began sneaking out of bed and rummaging through drawers.  He's even climbed his dresser and tried to climb his book shelf (luckily I caught him before he reached the top).  I'm afraid Weston's going to get hurt.  I am also a strong believer in schedules and kids getting enough rest, which he isn't.  His eyes are blood shot and red rimmed.  It's crazy!  He has always been such a good sleeper.  We started with Baby Whisperer from the very beginning.  I feel out of control as a parent for the first time.

It has been a month now, and I am at my whits end!  I just remembered today that this didn't start until after we left him.  Now, I'm worried that I somehow warped him or caused some sort of separation anxiety.    I'm sure I'm handling this all wrong, but I've tried everything.  Weston has had time-outs, I've yelled ( I know, I know), I've removed all his books and toys after warnings, I've promised treats if he would stay in bed.  I've tried everything I know how to do.  I'm just so frustrated and sad.  If he can tell me the rules, then why can't he obey them?  What should I do?  Any advice is welcomed!

Thanks for letting me rant.
