Kimberley.... I've found the lid... guess I never read the instructions the first time round, let alone this time!!

There were 2 in the box and 2 'travel' lids too which look much better than the discs inside the bottle lid.

Thank you.  Happy pumping so you don't get mastitis.

bizarrely I'd do anything be pumping right now, but I left the little flower (as we call it, the white bit that goes inside) at MIL on Monday. She posted it to me but postal strikes mean it hasn't arrived yet! So I haven't pumped since Monday am! I'm very hard and very sore!!!

Here's an overview of the storage guidelines:
http://www.llli.org/FAQ/milkstorage.html

Ellen - I think that's fine as long as you can be confident about it being flushed out as you describe. Actually one study found no difference in bacterial levels whether it was 10 hours in a fridge or 10 hours at room temperature. And it was also found that expressed milk may actually have LOWER bacterial levels after several days of being in the fridge - spooky.

This is really good info to know.  Pumping is not an enjoyable activity at the best of times and all the sterilization hype doesn't help.  Companies probably just put it in the product literature that you should sterilize and sterilize just to avoid liability but, of course, not knowing any better I was doing it at first and getting so frustrated and sick of anything to do with the pump!

Wow!!

What an interesting thread - am lurking on the BF forum quite a bit lately, doing a bit of 'revision'  ;)

As a keen pumper last time - this is all very interesting to know for future use.

Thanks Emma and girls  :-*

I only ever sterilized the first time - then I just used soap and water....and I store my pumps in the fridge too if I'm doing more than one session.

Yeah, when we were pumping 8-10x per day and having a newborn, exhausted...you know.  I would NOT have been able to keep up with it if we'd had to wash & sterilize every time.

Seriously!?!  I didn't know you could store the pump in the fridge and not have to clean it after every use!
Great information - all that work I was doing... man!  That is so great to know!  Thanks ladies!
