only sleeps in his own crib
« on: August 10, 2007, 23:52:26 pm »
Hi, my 7 mo only sleeps in his own crib, he doesn't even like the stroller for his naps. We need to go for a week trip, what can I do to get him used to sleep in other places before the trip?? Thanks.

I wish I had some advice for you, but we are encountering the same thing.  My lo is 8 months and has always been very picky about her sleeping arrangements. Not much help here, but she doesn't sleep in her carseat or stroller.  What I have done is get her pac-n-play out about a week before we go somewhere and have her take her naps in it.  That seems to help.  Good luck.

The practice before leaving did not help us.  Our DD would not sleep in the pack n play at home!!!   When we were forced to be away during a power outage she slept just fine in the pack n play.  Now I do not practice.  When we are away our schedule is a little different, but when she is tired enough she goes to sleep.  It does take her longer to fall asleep, but it does finally happen.  Good luck!

Hi there, whenever we go away we take our own travel cot, sheets, blankets and everything we will need to re-create nap and bedtime routine.

We stayed away from home last night and for 1 night i took, travel cot, sheet, blanket, DD's sleeping bag, fan (for white noise) , portable dvd player for bedtime dvd. We were staying  in a caravan and I used a thick towel pinned up in front of the curtains in order to make it as dark as possible.(if you are really stuck tin foil works excellently)

How does your LO cope with different situations? (other than sleeping) you will probably have a rough day or two.

Whenever we arrive at our hotel or whatever, I set up the bed etc as soon as possible and allow DD top play in that room for a while to get used to the room. Sometimes allowing a little time to play in a new cot will help also

I hope it all goes well  :)
