shimzy is locked out
« on: August 12, 2007, 20:25:45 pm »
Here's part of an email from her...

I'm not sure what's been going on but one day my account was deleted. Every time I tried to sign back in or reactive my account it would just delete itself. I got so sick of trying to log back I just gave up. I didn't bother trying a different address. If it did happen to log me in it would load pages properly, I couldn't post or reply it was really weird!!

We were all worried!

I saw that her account was deleted after maintenance mode, so hoped it was a glitch.

HELP HER!!!

When did the deletion occur?

Is she able to create a new account using a different email address and username?

If so, I would recommend a cookie and temp. files cleanout first.

Usually, once an account has been deleted there's very little that can be done about it, it's deemed final.  I'm not sure why the account was deleted initially, Admin very rarely delete accounts, we find bans are more effective for our purposes.

If we can get some sort of timeline I will see if Andy can query the database and re-set the account up, but it's a very long shot.

July 26th is when it happened...

I'm so happy it's a glitch though and nothing to do with her ;D

Thanks for that Steffi :)

Jessica, can you pm me the email address that Shimzy would like to use please.  I will manually set up an account and activate it for her, and then email her the details myself.  I think it's pretty safe to say that all previous record of her has been lost, but I will ask Andy to investigate it nonetheless :)

I know yous probably have been through this and it's garbage, but doesn't the thing that Lisa said happen when the IP is banned?

Happened to me before on a forum where they banned another German who used Telecom and then I and others where not allowed in either.

Just a thought, probably rubbish.

It's a valid point Steffi, but our forum software wouldn't delete a new account based upon a ban, it just denies access when an IP address ban is in place.  An IP address that has been banned wouldn't be able to set up a new account, there would be no access :)

Unless it's set up somewhere else and then once tried at home again it wouldn't work?

But it's not the reason anyway, sorry for the confusion  :)
