I never thought about the freezer bags idea! I was thinking I would have to buy more freezer cubes. But it's much cheaper to buy the bags instead.
As for cooking, I am not much of a cook. I have a feeling my talent for baking things and then grinding them up may be be the limit. I've never been too good with meats or soups. I swore once I got married and had children that I would take a cooking class. My Grandmother swears that as long as you can read a recipe you can cook. I don't agree, I'm always worrying if I have cooked my meats enough, especially chicken. I don't have that "natural" instinct to know when stuff is done.
Even the squash last night, I had no idea if it was done or not. The book on baby food said pierce it with a fork and if it glides in, it's done. So, that's what I did.
I also don't intend to do fruit purees, because they are pretty good straight from the jar. I will mash my own bananas, which she loves, and avocados. I was thinking though, that when it comes time for berries, like blueberries, I might try a puree or two.
