ooh, that's interesting - thanks for that. My 8mo has been waking a lot during the night too although not to point of screaming... I'l bear it in mind for him....

Carrie

My little boy wasn't screaming either...he was just very restless and woke up every single hour.  What I find weird now is that he has been on antibiotics for the past 5 days and I'm pretty sure the pain is most likely gone.  He started sleeping very well during the day again and seems content  BUT...last night was brutal....he was up from 12am-2am...in my arms..very restless and then again at 4am and 5...etc..   His night wakings are very random and sometimes the pacifier does the trick and sometimes I have to pick him up.  He used to be such a good sleeper....maybe teething but...I just don't know.  I'm going to cross my fingers for tonight.

"he used to be such a good sleeper" - that's exactly how I feel... how are things going now? Hope things are settling for everyone. Rory seems to be sleeping a better - we often hear him at some point during the night - sometimes before our bedtime, sometimes when we go up stairs, sometimes at 3am ish and almost always around 5am ish.... luckily for us he selfsettles well and apart from hearing him we'd hardly notice... thank goodness for all the sleep training we did early on!! :)

I was also wondering about an ear infection. Both my girls have had them in the past with no other symptoms than just "acting strange." No fever, no ear-pulling, just odd things like uncharacteristic night wakings and extra clingyness.

Well - touch wood - we haven't had any NW for a week or so now!  My current theory is that it was OT. We have some days when Katie does a 45 minute nap in the afternoon, so I would previously take her for a walk in the buggy around 5pm for a 20-30 min catnap. However I now think it needs to be a full 45 minute catnap - I've been doing this for the last week or two, and if she doesn't fall asleep till 5:30pm she sleeps till 6:15pm - then we go for a 7:45pm bedtime. She isn't all that tired at 7:45pm and will usually chat to herself for 15-30 mins before falling asleep, but then we get no NWs (so far - after a week of doing ths).   I think previously I felt that I should stick to a 7pm ish bedtime and so would only let her have a shorter catnap.

Anyway so far so good...

Babies eh, they don't half keep us on our toes!
