WELL, UPDATE
« on: June 20, 2008, 16:22:01 pm »
to the dissapointment of most here, we had to abandon the PU/PD... me and the wife have been quarreling about what to do for a month or so....go to the pediatrician, tell her we are frustrated,, one day he goes to sleep within 5 mins...the next scream bloody murder for an hour, in our (mine anyway) arms or not....INCIDENTLY, when we leave the room too...so the DR. says, if hes that inconsistent, hes old enough (6mnths) to cry it out, problem would be solved in 3days....so i did a dry run one night when the wife was out...asleep in 25 mins....now i did a ferber type thing...cry for 5 mins..go put in soother, repeat...
so the wife tried it on monday, called me at work alittle panicky...but all in all, happy...by day 2 300% better... now put him down in the AM around 8, 2-2.5hr nap...same in the afternoon...late afternoon maybe an hr..IF he needs intervention (soother or blanket adjustment) we only have to do it twice!!! WAY BETTER THAN SCREAMING FOR 45MINS....

1. sometimes he still wakes up around 45min into the nap?? then goes back down
2. has been waking around 530am, talking in crib...much too early...lol, today 645..
3. starts yawning and rubbing his face 1hr after waking??? GROWTH SPURT?

Hi there Phats,

I'm truly sorry to hear that you decided to stop PU/PD. I know from your previous threads that it's been explained to you why BW does not support CIO or CC in any form. If that is the route that you choose to go that if your decision of course and no one here will judge you for that. With that said though we cannot support you in that endeavor. The purpose of this site it to support Tracy's methods and the BW philosophy. In fact, Tracy's family asks that no discussion whatsoever takes place in regards to CIO/CC.

BW techniques do work but it takes time, consistency and committment. I hope that you are willing to reconsider.

I hear you, definitely. Colin had reflux and in our house it was all crying all the time, no sleeping. It's so hard. I did a lot of crying myself in those days.

But, after 2 months if things aren't improving there's something else going on. Something medical, or with feeding, or the routine I mean. Check here https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=69187.0
it describes that in more detail. PU/PD is intended as a last resort, when nothing else has worked and the routine and all is correct.

You also want to make sure that you're using the right age adaption...

Six months is a pretty common time for sleep to go crazy too. Teething, rolling, solids, growth spurt... they have a lot going on at that point.

That's wonderful that you've got the reflux figured out, that has a lot to do with sleep of course.
