Home Made Pureed Carrots ok to give baby?
« on: July 18, 2008, 22:09:48 pm »
The very first recipe in my book "Top 100 Baby Purees" by Annabel Karmel is for carrots. Then I just read in another book, "Your Baby's First Year, Week By Week" by Glade B. Curtis and Judith Schuler says NOT to give baby home made carrots because it could cause anemia. Jarred carrots from the store are ok because their process removes whatever could cause anemia.....darn! What is right? What do you guys think?

http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/nitratearticle.htm

heres a link I food and an article on nitrates....Its interesting and says possiblities for the form of anemia is low that it mainly comes from contaminated ground water like private wells, nitrates are naturally occuring in veggies and it says at 6 months the ris is lower sounds like you would have to eat alot of carrots read the article its kinda interesting...

Thank you! Wow, you're on the ball! Thanks for the link. I suppose that for every book or person or website or document that says one thing, there is another to say the complete opposite! Jeepers!  :P

Pretty much one says one thing another says something different you never know which way to turn sounds like carrots would be okay though we have feed them to D with out any problems...Seemed to be more of a problem with feeding solids to infants 3 months and younger..
