Sherry, I think 11 hrs is good. He woke up at 8.30 this morning and went to bed at 7.30 with no fuss, and to sleep very quickly. I know he was really tired, but luckily hadn't gone over into OT yet.

OK, so of course I spoke too soon. I think some OT has come in because of all the Christmas excitement, but we are back to 11.5 hrs. Which I know is ok but I'm not convinced is quite enough. We are getting lots of whining, meltdowns, and he just LOOKS tired.

I guess there's not much I can do though since he simply will not nap, no way no how. I can only keep him quiet/still by putting on a movie and obviously I don't want to do that more than once in a day (in fact I don't like doing it every day but that is the way things are going).

Serves me right for feeling so happy about 13 hrs! He seemed so much happier for the extra sleep!

Anna - that's the boat we are in :(  I was doing the movie "quite" time, and it blew up in my face already, so I went back to no movie at quite time. I just let him take in a toy or something.
So  are you just continuing to do early bedtime, should you/could you do earlier?

I'm so tired of the meltdowns.

I think I need to try harder to get him to bed earlier. It seems like 7.30 is now 'early' (even though it's really not early for a no nap day), but I bet if I could get him down for 7 he would sleep longer.

Hey anna.  DS had a week of short naps due to transitioning to a new group at daycare.  We got him to bed between 7:00-7:15 and he slept 12h!!!  And HAPPY!  I think early bed is necessary for Stan especially during this no nap transition!  Did the nursery manage to get him to at least lay down for a short while during nap time?

Last night was a wild one - asleep at 7.30pm and slept for 13.5hrs. Insane! No idea how he managed that but I'm definitely NOT expecting a repeat any time soon...

Wow!!!! YEY STAN!!!!

I was going to say that when he goes back to nursery you could probably get away with a really early bedtime. I know a mom on her who put her high needs sleep kid to bed at 5:30 for a long long time and she slept until 6:30, I think for almost a year!!!!

Nursery starts back next week - the difficult part is going to be to get him to bed early enough that he will be able to get 12.5hrs. We really need to get up at 7.15 latest, otherwise it is a rush to get dressed/breakfast/out the door on time. But that means getting him to bed for 6.45, which is a rush in itself. Will have to do some juggling with work to see if I can pick him up earlier, otherwise it will be into PJs and up to bed as soon as we walk in the door :(

:(  Hopefully you can work something out for a little while.

So how did last night go?

We got our first 13 hour night last night. But, I think that's only because DS2 was up a lot last night and probably disturbed Lyle's sleep. Then Lyle had a NW of his own around 12, he probably would have been fine on his own but I sent DH in. He covered Lyle back up. Then he woke crying at 4:30. I got him back to sleep, then Emory was screaming at 5:15. It's a miracle but I got Lyle back to sleep, again. He woke at 7:20, this is a major major victory in our house. So I can't decide if I want to aim for bed at 6:45, or 7. What do you think? Maybe 6:50, that would be 11.5.

I'd go for 11.5hrs... fingers tightly crossed for you.
Last night was OK - he didn't got bed until 9.30 because we were out for dinner... boy I do sometimes wish I had a kid who would lie down on a coach and doze off, but no way. So he slept 11.5hrs, which is OK. I'll try to get him down earlier tonight.

As you know that's not Lyle either.

I'm so proud of how well Stan is doing though!!!! It gives me hope that Lyle will be ok some day.

I'm not sure what we are going to do for New Years. I actually have plans to go somewhere, at night as a family. This is huge for us, but with the napping situation  :-\  So nervous. DH and I talked about it, and they were going to stay home because it started at 7. But, now it starts at 6. I am tired of being sort of a loser because I dictate my whole life around Lyle's sleep. But.... I always always live to regret going out as well :(  DH has to work the next day too, so he won't be home to help with the fall out and get Lyle to nap.

How is quite time going. I'm going to do a post on the spirited board about it, because I'm having issues with it at well.
