Anyone move from the 3 hour EASY early???
« on: August 06, 2007, 00:57:58 am »
Hi All!

Just wanting to know what some of you have done with your LO's.  DS2 will be 11 weeks tomorrow  :D :D and I have been finding that the 3 hour feedings are not working as well anymore.  He's just not as interested in a full feed right at 3 hours and he is also able to stay awake longer.

We've moved on to a loose 3.5 hour EASY in order to ensure full feeds and for now things are working better (this of course right before the 3 month growth spurt  :P :P).  I'm still working on figuring out the napping with this new EASY -- seems he needs two long naps and two catnaps.

So ... just wondering if any of you have had similar experiences??  And what did a 3.5 hour EASY look like for you??

TIA!!   ;) :) ;)

***Mine moved cold turkey to a 4 hour EASY at 4.5 months, but I am sure there are others on here who share your same experience.
I am so in love with my husband and adore my precious Grace

Hi Nish,

My LO is 13 weeks and we are on a 3.5 to 4 hr easy.  We were struggling with 45 minute naps so I extended her A time to 1 hr 30 minutes when she was 10 weeks.  This fixed the problem and now we have 2 x 2hr naps (sometimes 2.5hr) and 1 x 45min nap.  I tried doing 3 x 1.5 hr naps but she won't do it.  As the day goes on my LO is hungry and tired more quickly than the earlier part of the day so I really have to watch her tired cues to get her to take the last 45min catnap.  Instead of going 1hr 30 for her A time she goes 1hr 20/25.  You wouldn't think that 5-10 mins would make such a difference but it does.  I tried doing 2 catnaps in the afternoon to push her bedtime back a bit but she rarely will go down for a second catnap so is often in bed around 6:30/6:40.
This is more or less our day (some days she wakes up earlier!! which makes it very hard to get her to her bedtime).
E: 7:30
A: until 9am
S: 9am-11:15 - 11:30
I allow her time to wake up and she is usually eating again at--
E:  11:30
A: until 1pm
S: 1pm - 3ish

E: 3:15
A: until 4:30 (as she tires more easily in the afternoon)
S: this is anyone's guess : ) hopefully 45mins so until 5:15

we had bath troubles so we feed just before bath so here we have an earlier hence more closely spaced feed
E:  5:15
A: bath, dress, stories, more of her bottle if she is interested
E: 6:15 (if she'll take more)
S: 6:30p

Of course, this is an 'ideal' day but it does go more or less like this most days.
Hope that helps you some!
Shannon

Nish,

HI!!!!

we are edging towards a  3.5 EASY too.  I'm finding myself to be more flexible with this one.

Some cycles are 2.5hourly if a naps been shorter and somtimes it's 3.5 (i'm not letting it go beyond that though).  My thought is that Andrew is still getting 7 feeds in 24 hours so if one feed is 3.5 hourly and the next is only after 2.5 then that's still averaging 3hourly KWIM?

Thanks so much ladies ... Shannon, you actually hit it on for me ... our day looks the same and I've been struggling with the second nap or make it bedtime.  I keep thinking it's too early for bedtime, but that's probably my issue not his  ::)  I too have found extending his A time is making napping better  :D

Hey Alex!  --- I think Andrew and Zain are the exact same age right??  May 21st??   ;D ;D ;D

I'm trying to also be flexible and he's averaging the 7 feeds a day too --- how do your nights look?  We're doing a DF at 11 and then feed between 3 and 4.  Start the day at 7:30 ... mind you he does get up sometimes in between - esp. after the 3/4 feed, but just needs his paci or some patting.

Thanks again for the input ... we'll just keep plugging along ;)

Hmmm ... come to think of it Shannon ... if your LO is 13 weeks ... is that a May baby?? You both should come to the Birth Boards ... we've got a great group of ladies and LO's ... so nice to bounce lots of ideas off each other with our LO's in and around the same ages!!

Hi Nish,
What cute little boys!
Yes, my LO is a May baby  :)  Thanks for the suggestion I will check out the boards, they sound like fun.
I guess with our EASY we average 5-6 feeds a day including the dream feed and counting the bath/cluster-kind of feed as 1 feed not two.  She doesn't feed at night although she does often wake up around 4 or 5am and will take a paci or some patting to re-settle until 7 or 7:30.  It has been about 3 weeks since we dropped the night feed--phased it out by watering it down as she occasionally would sleep through anyway.

We also struggle with bedtime as her A times decrease as the day goes on so when I try to push her bed time back she can become very fussy.  Let me know if you find anything that works : )  It may just be that as they get a bit older and can stay awake a bit longer they will go to bed near to 7  :)

See you on the birth boards!
Shannon
