Hi Elmarie,

Things DO sound as if they are improving!!! Really. I think yes, 25-30 minutes do sound long to fall asleep, but Henry does the same when we tweak his routine - granted he is younger. :) ;)

But after about a week, he goes back to taking 5-15 minutes. Hang in there!! You are doing a GREAT job!!

Vasbyt!!

Elmarie, sounds like a plan. I would be happy with 11-11.5hrs at night because any more than that could be effecting her ability to have a good nap during the day. Sometimes they get caught up in a cycle of great nights & short naps.

So 1 nap at 11am (you could let her have a nap as long as 2.5hrs) & then in bed 6.30 or so.... (depending on the length of the nap)

Thank you for the compliment :). I love that pic as well. I used to have a pic of my babies but my sister & DH are soooo paraoid (I am too actually) so I replaced it with this one.

Hi there girls,

I did 1 nap with DD today and it seemed to go better.  I put her down at 11.15am -5h after waking up (she woke up at 6.15am this morning) and she was asleep by 11.30 (15min yahh!!)and woke up at 1pm ( so 1 1/2h has been the longest she has slept with a nap for months).  I'm hoping this will get longer as she gets used to the 1 nap. I think the 1 nap may work better but I will see how the day goes.  As you said Layla the days she wakes early or seems tired I will do 2 naps.  i will do early bedtime and make sure she is in bed ready to sleep by 6pm.tonight (do not want to go over 5h A.  Will let you know how the night and time of waking up goes.  But it's seems that you ladies plan are working so far!!

Thanks for all your help Layla,

She woke again at 6.15 this morning (12h night) so this new routine seems to work for now.  As you know just as you settle into a new routine and you think you have it-it will change!!

Thats great news.  Dont forget to really watch for overtiredness.  If you've been checking the 2-1nap thread you will have seen I have been having a nightmare time with it.  So watch for any nightwakings or early mornings and try to nip it straight in the bud.  I think most try to offer 2 naps when they get an EW or NW, this didn't work for us but for a lot it does, so always worth trying.  Apparently OT can creep in upto 6weeks after switching onto 1 nap, so give it a couple of months before you let your guard down  ;)

Thats great to hear ;D. I agree to look for overtiredness but then again your lo could take really well to 1 nap... See how you go. I usually see the effects of overtiredness in about 3 days.

Keep us posted :-*

As you say Layla it's bit of a minefield.  Did early bedtime last night because DD only did 1h nap .  woke at 5.45am (11.5h sleep).  Put her down for nap at 11am but only did 45min this morning.  So I have put her down at 1.45pm for another nap (still babbling away for 30min) but will try and let her do just 30min to see her through to bedtime- if she doesn't fall asleep by 2.30 I will do super early bedtime of 5.30pm and will definitely do 2 naps tomorrow-don't want OT. is the right approach (just 30min nap to get her to bedtime?

Will keep you posted  :-\

Oh I HATE that! You put them down for 1 nap but its 1hr long >:(. The length of the catnap..... depends on how late it is I suppose. I would probably wake by 4ish to get a 7ish bedtime

I usually leave Jasmine in the cot for the duration of the nap (say another 30-45mins) just in case she woudl return back to sleep. I did this yesterday & thankfully she went down for another hour.... so maybe try that next time.

Was she crying when she woke?

Did ot go to sleep when I put her down for pm nap so after 1h in cot (quite happy to play there) I left it and she was asleep by 5.45pm.  Woke at 6 this morning so did her 12h (thank goodness no NW or Ew).  Did 1 nap today as she has been asleep for 1.20h so I'm hoping for 2h nap( needed some ME time :)) and normal bedtime of 6pm tonight.  A bit strange doing lunch so late but that will also sort it self out.

Hope your DD's NW has now sorted it self out!!

Will keep you psted

You mean Isabella's ..... only God knows what that was all about! She had fever 3 days ago (pretty high) & I felt some bumps... so I am pretty sure it was/is related to teething..... she's gone back to 1.5hr naps & 10.5hrs at night & no playing at night for 2hrs ::)

Yay that todays nap will be longer... & hopefully MUCH longer ;D!!!

Hey Elmarie... has your dd been talking to mine :P? I put Jasmine down for 1 nap today & she only slept 1hr ::). I doubt she will take another nap. She's still in the cot just rolling around (its been about 45mins since she woke). So I'm going to do a 5.30pm tonight...

I am willing to stick it out though - been too long in the making... this transition. Its brutal!!!

How did you go today?

Hahaha! :) :)  Isn't it crazy!!  Just when you think you have it, they come up with something to through the whole routine out!!  Did you put her to bed at 5.30.  What time did she get up?

Mine did 1.5 yesterday and was asleep by 6.10pm and I woke her at 6.30am today as too preserve the day routine. Will put her down at 11.30am and hopefully she will also do 1.5h nap.  DH has to look after her today as I'm off to work (nanny has gone to hospital) so hopefully it will all work out.  She raps her daddy around her finger!!

Here is hoping today goes better for both of you.

LOL Donna  ;D. Yup trying to stay in control ;)

Elmarie - she did go to sleep at 5.30pm. She was dosing off when drinking her bottle but when I put her down she still managed to roll around & fell asleep in about 10mins.... so lets hope for a decent night & a good wake up time ;D
