Ideas for lunch?
« on: October 15, 2007, 11:50:01 am »
My lo is 9months now and has taken a real liking to toast, especially with cheese on, I was wondering what everyone else gives for lunch as I like to give her finger foods when possible and then give her a meat/fish meal on the evening but not sure what else to give that does not involve bread as I am concerned she is having too much.  Any ideas would be greatly received.
Thanks Rachael xx

My lo loved cottage cheese by that age (I buy large curd and let her feed herself), she liked avocado, banana bits, steamed carrots, slightly mushed peas, mini gobs of refried beans with cheese melted on top, any type of melon that is very ripe, etc.

it totally depends on how adventurous your lo is, and what they like, but those are a few ideas that worked for us,

My 9.5 month old likes baked potatoes and I mix in some steamed veggies.  Like your lo, he would eat toast and cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  I also cook pasta for him.  It's a little more difficult for him to pick up, but at least it's something different!

My DD is 9.5 months and she does mostly all finger foods.  For breakfast she has cereal or toast, cut up fruit. For lunch we usually give her an egg yolk (hard boiled and then cut into pieces), steamed or roasted veggies - sweet potato, squash, lentils, etc..., cut up fruit - banana, peaches, canned pears, etc...  For supper she usually has cut up tender pieces of chicken or another kind of meat, steamed veggies - peas, broccoli, beans, carrots, etc..., applesauce, rice or pasta or cereal.  She has had a sensitivity to dairy which is why there isn't any in her diet right now, but I hope that will give you some other ideas.
