EASY with a 3 month old - not working right
« on: June 16, 2008, 17:52:59 pm »
We've been doing the BW EASY plan since birth with DS2.  He's done great up until 4-5 weeks ago.

I'm frustrated now because:

-he's not sleeping through the night yet
-he's waking at 6am thinking it's morning

Here's our EASY routine as of lately...keep in mind I have 2 other LO's and can't keep this schedule strictly but try my best (we have school, swimming lessons, etc. during the week so DS2 gets toted around alot).

6-6:30am wakeup
7:30 eat - 5oz formula
A time
9:00 sleep
10:00 eat  - 5oz formula
A time
10:45 sleep
12:00 eat
A time
2:30 eat - 5oz formula
3:30 sleep
usually have to wake him up at 5
5:30 eat - 5oz formula
6:00 bath
7:00 eat again - 5oz formula
7:15 bedtime
10:00 dreamfeed - 5oz formula
3:30 or 4:30 wakeup, drinks 5oz formula
6:00 wakeup.

Tell me what I'm doing wrong.  Is the 3:30-4:30am wakeup habit or is it necessary?  He drinks the entire 5oz at that feeding.

Thank you.
Melanie

ok, how long does your baby sleep at each of those sleep times?
like the first nap starts at 9am.....and then you feed at 10am...so how much sleep?

i'm thinking your lo is a wee overtired...but i don't know for sure.
need a tiny more info.

hang in there

He's pretty inconsistent with napping....  It can be 45 minutes, or it can be 1.5hrs or it can be 2.5 hours.  Each nap varies in length, depending on the day.  I can't be more specific because we're not on that rigid of a schedule because I can't stay home all day long or work around his schedule due to his older siblings.

He's not cranky, and doesn't cry when I put him down for a nap, will usually just grab his paci and his blanket and close his eyes.  Could be overtiredness....I don't know

Marking this one!  Mel, our dear lo's are on a similary schedule.  Why six?!?  I try to keep it quiet, etc. in the room and pray for seven a.m. but it never happens!  Do you get one good nap (1.5) and three smaller naps?   I don't have advice, just support in that we're there, too!

;) Shannon

Yes, about the same.  One good long nap, and then the rest are usually 45-1hr.  The past two days he's been waking up at 5am, wide awake.  I can get him back to sleep with his paci until 6 but then he refuses to go back to sleep, and he doesn't want to eat until at least 7:30.  This is so frustrating, I'm exhausted.

I guess it's nice to know someone else is going through the same thing but I'd rather we be sharing how great it is that they're sleeping through the night, ha!
