A little background: Our Spirited DD is about 6.5 mo, and about a month ago, DH quit his job so he could do work at our house. He now has DD 2 days a week, and the other 3 days she goes to the babysitter. Our babysitter is amazing, and our DD is the only kid she watching except her own kids, who are all school-aged.
For the last 3-4 weeks, we have been having a nap nightmare. When she is at home (weekends or home with DH), she will wake from naps at 30 mins on the dot (extending never works), and putting her down for naps is a nightmare. Depending on how much patience we have putting her down for a nap can take 20-60 mins. She will be rubbing her eyes and yawing, but as soon as we put her down with her lovey and paci, she is wide awake. Once we leave the room, she cries, once we wake back in the room, she stops crying and is wide eyed and smiling. Often times what ends up happening is we put her down, she cries, we go back in so she's calm, then leave again and she cries, etc. This can go on forever! If we pick her up "too early" she will push and fight us, but I have noticed that after several rounds of crying I can bounce her to sleep. But no matter what, she's back awake at 30 mins.
The interesting thing is that when she is at the babysitter's, she naps great. She usually takes 1hr nap in the AM and 1.5-2h nap in the afternoon. I've asked our sitter how she puts her down for naps, and she says she puts her down awake and sometimes puts her hand on her tummy if she squirms or fusses. We obviously, have not been able to repeat this success.
Her nights are generally good. She goes to sleep independently, and aside from bad teething nights she usually only wakes once to nurse (anywhere from 2-4am).
I'm desperate for help. My weekends have become completely stressful, and I hate feeling like I'm not enjoying my little time with my DD. Plus I'm worried about the clearly OT situation we're dealing with. HELP PLEASE!!
