Dropping AM nap
« on: March 21, 2014, 21:45:58 pm »
My daughter is 18 months and finally really showing the signs to drop her am nap.. She usually wakes about 7 am and because of school for the olders etc i have to make nap time 1pm at earliest.. Eventually I'd like her to move it to 2 but assume it needs to start early when adjusting.. I am awaiting the long afternoon naps but right now I'm getting an hour maybe an hour and a half on a good day.. When she wakes after an hour sometimes she fusses but mostly just sits. I know this is not enough sleep for her age and need any advice! Her bed time is 715-730 osh.. Depending on how long the nap was.. Help a frustrated mama!

I would move to a single nap at 1pm (earliest you can) and just see if the nap extends as she gets used to it. Maybe do an early BT if she short naps. Does she tack on to night sleep if she sleeps less in the day?

Any chance of resettling if she wakes after an hour?

Check out the 2-1 nap threads too. From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)
Anyone want to talk about the 2-1 transition #26

So far no change.. She will be resettled only sometimes and mostly if she's given a pacifier which I don't want to do. I hope this settles.. She's clearly still tired.

Are you trying to wean the paci? Now might not be the best time if it is the only thing that resettles her. Can you just leave it in the crib for her to find herself?

She has never used paci when going down for sleep. I had used it occasionally when she needed to fall back asleep and it worked. I'm so frustrated been at this awhile.. Girl will cry and cry after an hour.. Other day she slept 2.. I did same exact routine and nada.just an hour. I know she's tired and I am! Feel I'm doung everything wrong :/

Are you doing the nap at 1pm every day now?

I'd try EBT if she only naps an hour. Does she track sleep on to the night if she goes down earlier?  What's the earliest hoy think she would go to bed at night?
