6.5mo...on 2 naps, and long one has now become 30 mins

Hi bw friends!

My little girl was napping 1-1.5 hours for her first nap, then 20-40mins second nap. I know it's not ideal, but we were scraping by.

Now her first nap has become 30 mins, then she wakes and wants a feed, then falls asleep feeding. She didn't seem very tired when I put her to bed for her nap, and fought it a bit (that's usual no matter how tired she is) but 30 mins is OT, isn't it? She had 3h 15 min a time by the time she was asleep.

Any thoughts on what to do here? Feeding her bavk to sleep isn't a path is like to stay on

Can you post your whole EASY?  I'm thinking you need to pull back your first A time a touch for a day or two to help her catch up

W and bf (sometimes she refuses if NF is late) 7am
Solids ~8am
Bf top up ~9am (as she sleeps through 4 hr mark I was topping her up here)
Nap ~10:10-11:30/45, now a short 30 then extended with bf
Bf 11:45/12
Solids after an hour or so
Top up bf
Nap around 2:20 in car on way to school- varies between 20 and 40 mins
Bf round 4
Solids round 5
Bath
Bf 6:30 (falls asleep feeding)
Bed 7
DF 10:30
One night feed round 4/5am

The strange thing is she's totally clear eyed and happy, even at 10:10. I put her down because it seems right, but by 10:05 she had not even rubbed her eyes, yawned, not red eyed, not grizzly. It's almost like she could do longer a time and then she does a short nap.

She's also had an nw around 9/9:30pm the last few night- dh has given her a cuddle and then she's gone straight bavk to sleep, no feed. Separation anxiety? I almost wonder if it's that in the day too- she wants a quick feed then back to sleep in my arms?

Hmm her behaviour sounds UT pre-nap but I think the 30 min WU and quick resettle sounds more like OT. The 9pm NW and short pm naps would suggest that too.  I guess there is one way to find out.....pull her first A time back 15 mins or so for a day and see if that gives a better nap.  If you get more resistance and/or a short nap you can't resettle, you'll know she needs a push.  Some babies do 30 min UT naps but I would say they are the exception rather than the norm.  Do you think she could be OT 'wired' and therefore seeming happy?  I know DS does this, can be a joy to be around when he has had very little sleep then miserable as I don't know what once he starts catching up!

Thanks, I'll pull back and see how we go today I left her for about 15 mins after she woke from her nap early, to see if she'd go back off. She talked to herself on and off, then be and grizzly. So she was awake fit at least 20 mins before going back to sleep while bf. Strange!

Put her in 9:55, took me 15 mins to get her to sleep, she was very resistant! Then another 30 min nap. Feeding now but I think she won't go back to sleep. So I'll need to squeeze in 3 naps today :/

Well- today has totally kicked my butt. I was aiming couldn't get her down for second nap until over 3h a time, and then she napped for 35 mins. Now we have 4 hrs til bed and she won't nap again, I know it. This week we've had all 30in naps- some extended by bf, some not. What the heck has hapoened :,( :,(

Meanwhile my little mr 5 is terribly sick with fever and vomiting

I so hope I am in a wonder week that would be a lovely explanation. According to the app it's not a wonder week but who knows. And yes, teething is happening, none have broken through yet. Thanks for your help and checking in
