I NEED HELP.... PLEASE
« on: August 31, 2006, 23:50:14 pm »
I have been trying to figure this out on my own, but i just cant. I need help. Gage's A time has increase dramatically, but he still needs 2 naps. It is so hard to fit everything in during the day. He used to take an 1.5 hr nap and then a 45 nap and now they are just getting shorter and later. Could someone help me tweak his routine?

7:15 wake
11:30 sleep

12:20 wake
4:20 sleep
5:20 wake him

8:30 bed

He now cries for about 10 min for EVERY nap. This is new. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong? :'(

Thanks

Could it be too much A time and not enough down time prior??  Just taking a stab in the dark here.
Blessed beyond measure.

It's so hard to say because our LOs are all so dramatically different at this age. So what happens if you put Gage down earlier in the morning? It looks like he has more than 4 hours A time which is a lot in the morning. To be honest, when in between one and two naps, a lot of babies seem to get stuck where they either need a nap at 3-3.5 hours A time or they just have to push through to a mid afternoon nap (one nap). For example, my niece (14 months) usually wakes at 7am. She tends to want a nap around 10:15/10:30 and my sister will let her sleep 30-45 minutes if so. But if she doesn't go down by 10:45 at the latest and/or if they are out and not home in time, she'll push her through to an early small lunch at 11:15/11:30 and then put her down for a long nap after that.

Hope that makes sense - basically, I'd try putting Gage down earlier in the morning, say 10:45. I'd limit this nap to 30 minutes and then try second nap 4 hours later. Otherwise, if he won't sleep by 11 or so you may need to try to move to one long nap and an early bedtime!

Thank you ladies! I do think he is trying to move one nap, but seems to be in a transition right now. He was refusing his second nap, so that is why I started increasing the first A time, but maybe that was the wrong move or wrong timing. I should have started limiting his first nap, but was afraid as it has never worked in thhe past and has always came back and bit us. however I do think the limiting the first A time and nap is the key, so I will give it a go. Thanks again ladies you are ALWAYS such wonderful help :D
