Is the dream feed necessary?
« on: March 01, 2007, 17:40:13 pm »
Ive been implementing easy with my lo for a few weeks now ( she is just 4 months old today) I havent been diligent about the dream feeds because I usually fall asleep right after her. However, the last week I have been doing the dream feed because she suddenly started waking up during the nights ( erratic times). Even after upping her ounces during the day she was still waking up to eat at night. The first night was good but now she is waking up again. And occasionally she wakes up with belly aches and gas a few hours after the dream feed. I guess my question is...do I have to do the dream feed? But if I dont, how do I get her through the night?

our schedule is roughly:
E: 6:30-7:00
A
S: 8:30- 10:00 or 9:00 to 10:30 (trying to extend to 11)
E 10:45 (trying to extend to 11)
A
S: 12:00 to 2:00 or 12:30 to 2:30
E 2:30 or 2:45
A
S catnap around 4 (usually 30 to 45 minutes)
E: 5:00
A
E: 7:00
A wind down, bath and sometimes a top off bottle if still awake close to 8:00
S: between 7:30 and 8:00

when doing the dreram feeds, they were at 11.
Since she is four months I want to start moving her to a four hour easy ( but the waking started BEFORE I began changing any routine)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
Jill

Hi Jill and welcome to BW ;D

The DF is not necessary, especially if she's getting gassy and uncomfortable afterwards.  I actually believe that she may be showing signs of readiness to move to 4 hour EASY.

Here's the link to a topic in our FAQ's that will explain it in more detail

Hi Jill

I only did the DF for about 5 days with my LO, but she was really difficult to wake at that time and never fed in her sleep, so I gave up. She woke up at 2 am for a week or so, then 3, then 4 etc until evenually she slept through until 7am. It didn't take long for that to happen.

Best of luck
