HELP - 11 month old
« on: August 25, 2007, 19:22:49 pm »
My boy is nearlly 11 months, he wakes up at about 6:30, then i start winding him down at 9:00 for his morning nap, he's usually asleep by 9:30 for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. ok so all good there, oh he also breastfeeds at 4am, 7am and 11am. Now we play till about 1:30, then i start winding him down again, and he just doesn't have it. after trying to put him down and him just screaming at me, rubbing his eyes, trying to get out of the crib (totally overtired) i give up and breast feed him to sleep, and he wakes up like 30 min later, still tired. i breast feed him at 3pm then 7pm, he also had solids about 3 times a day as well. Getting him to bed of a night is fine, we give him a bath, read stories then just put him in the crib and after about 10 min he goes to sleep. He wakes up about 3 times during the night, sometimes i'm able to sooth him in his crib, other times he just losses it for a hr or so untill i give him and bring him to bed with us.

Also the nap in the morning, i'm not really sure how to do it properly, i usually wing it every day, do i stay in the room with him untill his alseep and play him back down every time he stands up. Or do i leave and go back in there when i hear his really upset (not the mantra cry?)

HELP HELP HELP, my husband is in the military and he's about to go for 6 months, i really need to get Sean into a good routine, i end up lossing it after trying to put him to sleep with no luck. After sometimes 3 hrs of screaming but i know his tied i just have nothing left in me you know?

Hi Pookiebear,

At 11 months your LO needs less sleep and starts preparing for the 2-1 nap switch.  Most mum's start cutting the morning nap down to 45 mins to protect the pm nap.  If you go to the Naps board, there is a thread at the top about the 2-1 switch - it's got a lot if info there from mum's going through it.

Good luck!
Michelle.

If he isn't crying I'd leave him to sort it out.  Same with standing - when Ella started to stand we would always put her down, but now we just leave her and she lays down by herself.  We stay in the room with Ella now as she goes to sleep, but it only takes 5 or 10 mins most days so it isn't an issue.  We will start putting her down and then leaving, but only when I'm sure her routine is established.
