cat in the crib....
« on: August 29, 2007, 14:22:30 pm »
so, DS2 is still in the bassinet in our room but at some point will move to the crib which is set up in ds1's room....but the cat likes the crib, too!! ds1 is in and out of his room all day so the door is not always shut. and i'm wondering if there are any good solutions out there other than buying one of those crib tent things. (some days i just don't want to have to buy one more baby thing!!  ::) )
thanks :)

Simple - just line the crib with tin foil!
Cats hate it and once he (?) has jumped into the crib with tin foil in the bottom, he certainly won't want to go in there again!

One of my cats got in the crib at first, we would chase him out, but honestly, he just lost interest in it (as cats do  ::).  The other thing is that DD got really interested in the cats and loves to grab at them and pull their fur, so consequently, they stay as far away from her as they can, including away from her room.  Tin foil does sound like a good idea though!

We have 4 crib loving cats.  We went and bought an inexpensive, wooden framed screen door (seriously is just a thin wood frame and screen) and put in up in the doorway to the bedroom.  We didn't put any of the hardware on except the simple handle, so Owen can push it open if he shuts it.  Its only shut at night and nap.  It has worked really great for us.  As you can see we didn't have to remove the regular door.

Anyhow, it's not a solution for everyone cause it does kinda look funny lol.  Frankly I don't care how it looks... I didn't even stain the wood lol - it serves its purpose and actually we will be taking it off soon cause we shut his real door now when he sleeps.  I got a "Crib tent" but it didn't fit as I have one of the new styled conversion cribs, so DH came up with this idea!   HTH Good Luck.
