What's She trying to tell Me?
« on: September 14, 2007, 23:00:59 pm »
DD just turned 1 on Sunday...

For the last three days her afternoon nap has been pointless....

Her Schedule is somewhat like this....

7pm - 6:15am sleep has 8 oz milk back to sleep until 7:15ish

9:15am Nap until 10:45am

1:15 Nap and I'm lucky if we get 40 mins...

and then she screams until I get her up....and then I offer a catnap around 4ish...which she rejects and then we go to bed...I'm thinking of pushing her up to 6:45pm and not even offering the catnap...

Any ideas folks? TIA

there is a FAQ about the 2-1 nap switch, I will get the link for you

https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=95670.0

Basicly with such an early mornign nap I woudl keep the morning nap 30-45 min and get a longer afternoon nap.  but read the link and then we can work on it from there.

SO I woke her from her am nap at the 40 mins mark (10am)...we went out had a busy mid day...home for pm nap at 1pm and she slept for 41 mins...(Yes I was timing!) and she's FREAKING out....I know she's teething....but really....

do I try for the catnap or just move up bedtime?

Hi sorry I know it is too late but I would probably do an earlier bedtime. I havent done the 2-1 switch yet but all the girls on my birth club have and I am sure they all did earlier bed times on days like these

Thanks Lee Ann.

That is what I did...I put her down at 6:35pm and she didn't MOVE...when I checked on her a 9pm she was still in the exact same position. and then she slept until 7:15am this morning....So I guess we'll keep up the early bedtime on days when she completely refuses her pm nap...

Thanks again! :)

sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  I think we are on different time zones.  I think you did the right thing.  you may want to post on the 2-1 nap chat because most of them have been in the switch for a while.  mine has been pretty painless in comparison so they may have a few more Ideas for you.  B is almost through it we have a few days of 1 nap and a few or 2 it usually goes in 4-5 day cycles.  of 1 nap for 3 days then 2 naps to et a bit caught up.  we do early bedtimes and later ones if need be.  so it could be long or short and you just have to be as flexible as you can with things like naps and such.  If the short afternoon nap continues I would try W2S or somehting like that.  you may want to play a bit with the A time after that shorter morning nap.  some have to horten it and some don't B never shortened his.  so you may want to try that too.
