Lovey?
« on: September 18, 2007, 01:27:01 am »
not sure if this belongs here or in Props.  My lo is almost 8 months and has never had a lovey, if she had anything in her crib it would keep her awake playing with it.

She is starting to get much more independent going to sleep (i.e. often refuses PU when offered during PUPD) We are starting to see some mild separation anxiety from time to time, and I have heard it is good for lo's to have a comfort object.  She does wrap her arms and legs around her crib bumper and grind her face in it when going to sleep - does that mean the bumper is her lovey?

Is it too late to introduce a lovey?  How should I go about it?

its never to late :) your best bet is a small stuffed toy (get at least 2) sleep with one for a night or 2 so it smells like you, and switch them every couple of days.

Your LO may stay awake a little longer to play, but she'll also really start to "bond" with it which in the long run will make things easier for you.

Holden has a bunny and a dog and a blanky. The blanky we waited a little longer for. But the animals was about your lo age. He used to play with them it was so cute and funny. Now we are going through sa so he doesn't really care about them. He still loves them but he loves his mama more ;)
