How to implement EASY with a 45 min commute?
« on: October 07, 2007, 22:41:40 pm »
I'm trying to figure out how to implement a 4 hr EASY for ds who is 6mo.  I commute with him to a daycare close to my work (~45 min away from home) and he usually falls asleep in the car for about half an hour on the way to work and the way home.  His current schedule is something like this:

7:00am eat
8:00am nap in car 1/2 hr
9:30/10:00am eat
10:30/11:00am sleep
1:00pm eat
2:30/3:00pm sleep
4:30/5:00pm eat
6:00pm nap in car 1/2 hr
7:15pm eat
7:30/8:00pm sleep
11:00pm D/F

The naps in the car make a regular EASY schedule impossible.  Any suggestions?

Welcome to the boards, I hope you meet some wonderful people and get some great advice!  My first thought is - if it ain't broke don't fix it!  If what you are doing is working well for you two, and there is nothing you want to change about your day, then don't!  If he is eating well, sleeping well, falling asleep well, and sleeping well at night, then leave well enough alone.  If there are things about your routine or his behavior that you don't like and want to change, then that is another matter entirely -post back and we can all have a go with ideas on how to help you adjust things.

I think the real crux of EASY is helping your lo have order to their day, and getting them to sleep well, and independently.  And if he is doing both of those, then you have accomplished the goal of EASY.  EASY is a guideline, and a routine, not a strict schedule, so there are many variations of EASY that people follow that work for them, and that is the key - whatever works for you and your ds!
