EASY and nighttime feeds
« on: October 25, 2007, 17:01:48 pm »
Hi everyone. This is my first post. :)

My five month old has never had any kind of routine and only has very short naps during the day. He's awake many times in the night and the only way I've got him back to sleep is by feeding him. :-[

I'm about to start the EASY plan but am worried that if he needs to eat during the night. Should I maybe keep one nighttime feed?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

hi hun,, welcome to the boards,, congrats on the first post!

i would say that at 5 months,, your lo will not need a feed in the night.
my lo was also not on a routine at the same age,, she has always been a great baby,, but more so now because she is following easy.

my advice would be to first of all start easy,, do you have a routine for your  lo's age? if not,, at the top of the page there is examples of this for you to look at.

i would start with puting lo on easy during the day,,feeds at the right times,, then this will show you that lo has had enough food during the day,, therfor, wont be hungry at night time,, so if lo wakes,, its not hunger, just habit,

then,, use easy during the day for naps,, sometimes, when you do this, the night wakening sorts itself out because lo is not overtierd.

how  does you lo get to sleep? on own or fed to sleep?

eaither way,, hope you get help for someone else,, but,, i would start with easy in the days,, then it will pu your mind to rest about the hunger before you takle th enight feeds,,

good luck

Hi,

Thank you so much for the advice.

We're on day 3 now and things are going well!  :)   Merlin's much more cheerful as he's getting loads more sleep! He now has 2 x 2 hour naps and he only woke up once last night!!! Before he napped for a maximum of 45 minutes 2 or 3 times a day and woke me up 5 - 6 times a night!! That all makes me much happier too!
Long may it continue   :D

Take care,
Frances

Wow, that is great.  Don't be discouraged if you happen upon a bad night, just be consistant and it will all work out.

What a cutie he is. That smile is just adorable.  :)
