24 Month night wake in a bed
« on: November 06, 2007, 04:50:08 am »
Ok....Ruby has moved to a bed, before this she was waking in her cot the only difference now is she can bang on the door (or kick the door as she tells me!). Ruby has been waking now consistently while in a bed at least once a night somewhere between 11.30pm and 5.30am. She is demanding milk which i have been trying very hard to provide water instead so that she is not waking just for the milk as a habit. Last week DH was away for the week and she slept from 7.15pm until 6.50 each morning with no night wakes. The first night DH is home she has started waking again in the night. (the first night she did not even know DH had come home so i do think this was a fluke!)

My question is, she does not need milk at that time of the night but how can i get her to get back to sleeping all night. Do i leave her to work out that i am not coming and there is water on her bedside table or do i go to her and every night keep reinforcing her wake by going into her room.....she knocks on the door as it is closed and if i dont attend....the knocks get accompanied with a cry for mummy or daddy.

Any suggestions? We need sleep!!!!! oh and so does she....much more agreeable when she has not woken during the night...

Any help would be great.

Whats her routine at the moment?

DD will do the "mummeeeeeeeeeeee" at night sometimes.i usually wait for a few mins and see if she settles her self.on the few occasions she doesn't i go in and put her duvet back on  ::) (its usually fallen off) and walk back out.
i also leave water at the side of her bed and show her where it is when its bedtime as shes been asking for water at bedtime ::).
