how much to feed
« on: November 06, 2007, 19:38:18 pm »
My lo is about 2 months old and he's bottle feed my breast milk and we are starting to wonder how much to feed.  Currently he's eating 3 oz every 2 hours and learning to do the EASY with every 3 hours, is kind of tough.  So I've heard that he could eat more and less often, is that true??  Does anyone have any advice regarding this.

How much does he weigh?  At the beginning, the 2-2.5 ounces per pound rule is pretty good.  You could start to move to a 3 hour EASY, but Meghan was only taking 3-4 ounces per feeding at this age.

I say follow his lead. If you want to try spacing out the feeds more do it slowly. 15 min at a time, if he's not reseptive then stop and try again in a few weeks.

Each LO is different so its hard to say, but you know your LO so follow his cues.

I agree, the 2-2.5 ounces per pound is just a guideline.  My dd never quite made it to the "recommended" amount.  Go slow with spacing the feeds and let him tell you when he's done eating.
