EASY with feedings every 2 hours?
« on: November 29, 2007, 17:49:44 pm »
I have recently had mastitis, which has made my milk supply diminish significantly. I would like to nurse more frequently to help build my supply back up. How can I nurse more frequently and still stay on EASY? Does anyone have a sample EASY schedule where lo can eat every 2 hours instead of 3?
Thank you.

5 months. Until a couple of weeks ago, he had been eating every 2 hours. At that time, we put him on 3 hour EASY. He is doing okay with the 3 hour feeding schedule (although he is waking more at night for feedings--and is actually hungry), but I really want him to go back to every 2 hours until my milk supply can get back up. I really don't want to pump, because he is the best pump--but I also don't want to back-track and get him off of EASY. I wonder if it is as simple as E-A-E-S/Y-E-A-E-S/Y?

Ideally you'd want a EAEASY even if the second A is pretty short. The key is to avoid giving the breast a sleep association i.e making it a prop, having him fall asleep on the breast - which could then affect his sleep skills in the longer term.
