12 weeks how long EASY?
« on: December 01, 2007, 20:20:02 pm »
How long an EASY should he be on at 12 weeks? Is on 3 and a half and 5 feeds is this wrong? Is this why my nap times have gone mad? Should he still be on 3 hr feeds?

probably depends on whether he is bf or ff.  My dd was doing 1.5hr A time, and 3hr EASY at that age, BUT we were also battling 45min naps, and I think dd probably needed a bit more A time in order to take a good nap.  That's just us though!

Ideally your baby would be on a 3 hour routine.  Could you post what your day looks like and we can take a look.

30min naps usually mean baby is OT, and 45min naps can be either biological or not enough A time.

Questions:
Do you think maybe he is waking up earlier than you think he is???  That might make him OT for that first nap, I'm not sure.
Do you have a good wind down routine?
How are his night time sleeps?
How do you comfort him - pat/shh?
Has he ever taken good naps - you mentioned that nap times have gone mad - I'm assuming this is recent?
Does he use a paci?

That's all I can think of right now :) Post back with answers, and we'll go from there!

He has a dummy if he wants it
perhaps wind down not good enough
Should I go back to 3 hrs?
Not sure how to fit them in.
He is often in our bed after middle of night feed because of wind so I know when he wakes but have to put colief in milk so have to wait 30 mins to give him it.

What is your current wind down routine for sleep?
I would probably go back to a 3hr routine, esp. since he is having the 30min naps, and that typically suggest OT.  You said you "aren't sure how to fit them in?" and I am not sure what you mean by that, can you please clarify?
