Desperate for some help for my 20 month olds sleep??
« on: December 07, 2007, 11:34:41 am »
My dd is 20 mnths old and has always been a great sleeper.  She is on 1 nap and sleeps normally 8-8.  So her normal day looks like this...

8am wakes
1-3 nap (usually takes 10-15mins to asleep)
8pm bedtime (again takes about 15mins to fall asleep)

Well about a week ago she started taking 30-45mins to fall asleep for her nap.  Which left her nap at the longest 1hr 40mins.  I kept bedtime around the normal time unless her nap was really short then I moved it up.  Well then she started taking around 45min-1hr to fall asleep at bedtime.  So this started causing ewings in the am.  Everyday they are getting earlier.  Now she is lucky to get 10-10.5hrs of sleep a night.  When she was used to 12hrs.

This morning she woke at 5:45am!! :o :o  She didn't fall asleep last night until just before 8pm when we had her in bed just before 7pm.   Abby has never woke this early!!  I don't know what to do with her.  And of course she has to pull this crap on the day that my Dh and I are leaving for the weekend.  My MIL and Mom are going to be watching her and my other two dd's.

So what do I do with her? ??? ???  I really don't know how to go about trying to fix this??

You will probably have to do an earlier nap for a couple of days so that she is not awake for so long before the start of the nap... since she's waking earlier & earlier. I would probably do nap around 12.30 the latest with an earlier bedtime. This has helped us with overtiredness and then you could try going back to your old nap time. Around age 2, my dd's sleep requirements went down to about 1.5hrs nap & about 10.5-11hrs at night so it could be that she just needs less sleep. How is she acting during the day? Does it seem like she still needs more sleep? Could she be teething at all?

Thank you for the help!  Well she is taking b/w 30mins-1hr to fall asleep for naps and bedtime. >:(  So I am trying to put her in bed way early so hopefully she will fall asleep around the time she is supposed to go to sleep.  She seems to do pretty well during the day.  We were gone all weekend so I will have to watch her the next couple of days and see.  She is teething and has been sick since Nov.7th.  She has had a cold and has had 3 ear infections.  The antibiotics are not working or she keeps getting it back. :-\  She is on her 3rd antibiotic in a month.  I am hoping that this one helps.

I guess that I will just keep putting her into bed way early and hope it all gets sorted out.
