white sauce flavors
« on: January 03, 2008, 01:38:46 am »
DS is MPI so cheese is out of the question.  havn't done tomato sauce yet, but will be doing that soon.  I was wondering what you guys do?  what do you add to your white sauces that make it taste better then flour and milk?  ( we use rice milk)

Chicken broth (in place of 1/2 the milk) + sage = cream of chicken soup (sort of)

I have more.  Will try to post later.

soy milk also makes it taste different.  The real stuff, not the vanilla flavoured of course!  what about curry powder too?

Colin doesn't care much for red sauce but he LOVES pesto.

So that's not white, but I wanted to throw that out there  ::)

It can go either way. I buy a kind in a jar that doesn't have cheese in it. If Colin asks for it I will sprinkle a little parmesan on top of his pasta  :)

Classico, I think.  It's quite good and reasonably priced.
