Hi There,
Only discovered Baby Whisperer a few days ago, and it's changed my life already! It's made so much sense. Have put my DS, now 13 weeks, onto EASY, he's been on it for 3 days now, and has slept through the night, 3 nights in a row - coincidence? not sure. Was on a sort of routine before, but I was fumbling and naps were shrinking to 45mins, felt like I was loosing it, was also trying too hard to keep him to some kind of schedule, rather than a routine. Am sure that he'll throw me another curve ball soon enough, as usually when you think you're getting somewhere, they change on you! But I'm rambling, my routine at present is:
0700-0745 breakfast feed
0745 - 0805 Activity time and wind down including: nappy change, leg exercise and wiggly on mat, tummy time, little walk around back to nursery for wind down, draw blinds, read book, pop into grobag stand up cuddle gently swaying and singing, lay down in cot - usually fusses here, do my version of shush pat (gently rub tummy in circular motion and go shush, or gently talk or breath deeply in and out through nose), he's asleep in 20 mins, I leave him alone for the last 5 mins or so to drop off by himself - often wakes at 45 min mark, 1st morning I had to Shush Pat him through back to sleep for nearly 50 mins, second morning he screamed awake so I held him and put him back down and shush pat for about 15 mins back to sleep. Nap 2.5 hours
1100-1130/1145 brunch
1145-1230 Activity time and wind down: nappy change, exercises, wigglying on mat, time in play gym, time in Bumbo seat watching me do something, reading book then wind down little walk, back to nursery draw blinds etc as before - can take longer to go to sleep here. Nap 1.5 hours
1400-1445 Lunch
1445-1600 Activity time and wind down: nappy change, exercises, wigglying on mat, maybe gym depending on mood, Bumbo, reading/photo albums and walking around, wind down to nap - journey to nursery, draw blinds etc as before
1700 Teatime
1730-1830 Activity time and wind down: lower key, nappy change, wigglying on mat, bumbo, reading and walking around, wind down as before
1945/2000 Dinner - now a slow deliberate feed
2030 Activity time, very low key, lights dimmed, nappy change and change into sleepsuit/ bath and same, wind down to beddy byes
2230/2300 Dream feed
I'm finding that it takes less and less of my intervention to get him down for naps, but was having lots of problems before EASY. 1st day on easy, he screamed for 30-40 minutes before going down in afternoon, but I persisted with shush pat. Feel that part of nap problem was I was misreading his cues, not winding him down in time, and overstimulating him, so now carefully watch my activities, and wind them down through each session and also over course of the day.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Wriggly
