New here and have questions
« on: January 06, 2008, 19:16:31 pm »
I have been reading about EASY and I think I am already on the right track but I have some questions.  My daughter is 2 months old and weighs 13.1lbs.  I found a EASY plan on this website that she kinda follows but at night we are having a horrible time.  She gets up around 11pm and stays up until 2:30am (last feeding is at midnight)!  She is happy for part of it but the other she is just cranky.  I know it is because she is so sleepy and is over stimulated by me continually rocking and patting and talking and switching her back and forth from the swing to my arms but I am just trying to help her get to sleep.  My question is....at that point should I just put her down and let her self sooth until she falls asleep (yes she sometimes will take a paci)?  I tired that once but she screamed even if I was patting and shushing (sp?) her and once she gets get mad it takes forever to calm her adding another hour to her being awake.

Maybe her naps are to long but if I let her stay up to long then she gets SUPER cranky and that's not good for any of us.

BTW...she sleeps with me.  Maybe I should move her to her crib or her pack n play.  But she cries pretty bad when I put her in the pack n play tho.

3-hour E.A.S.Y.
E:  7:00ish
A:  7:30ish or 8:30
S:  8:30-10:30 (sometimes she will sleep 4 hours here so it will throw everything off)

E:  10:00
A:  10:30 or 10:45
S:  11:30 (2 hours)

E:  1:00ish
A:  1:30 or 1:45
S:  2:30 (1.5 hours)

E:  4:00 feed
S:  5:00 or 6:00 (sleeps another 2-3 hours)

E:  9:00pm feed
A:  9:30-10:00pm
S: 10:00pm-11:00pm

She gets a bath at 11:30pm and she is up until 2:30am and sleeps until 7:30am.

i agree, she probably is getting too much sleep during the day.  You need to start by not letting her sleep more than 2 hrs for her naps. Always wake her for her feeds every 3hrs. Especially at 10am,wake her to feed. Also try only letting her sleep an hr at 5pm. at another feed at 7pm, and do your bath then too. Hope that gets you started!

Many babies find the bath very stimulating.  I would try to do it earlier in the day as suggested by PP. I also agree that you shouldn't let her sleep more than 2 hours a nap.

I would make the 5:00 nap a 45 min cat nap and then end your day like this:
5:00 cat nap (45 min)
6:00 bath and quiet activity
7:00 feed and bedtime
10:00 df
