Sebastian is just under 6months, and he has been having rice cereal for about a month now (he is a big boy, I couldn't keep the milk up to him!).

He can sit up unsupported by himself (and is nearly getting into a sitting position from lying down!! yikes!), and also has a crude pincher grip (which hurts when he gets my bottom lip!!).

My question is, can I try him on finger food? He loves to hold the spoon himself when we are having cereal, he will suck and chomp down like a mad man on a big stick of cucumber (which I know is a finger food!), but when I tried to put some avocado on his high chair tray he popped it in his mouth and then gagged a little bit, but eventually mashed it and swallowed it.

He gums like crazy on rusks, and will swap the rusk from hand to hand ... so I would assume he's ready for finger foods. Any suggestions?
