Sleep disruption for 2.5-3 yo - maybe development issue?
« on: January 29, 2008, 17:36:07 pm »
Any ideas about what could be causing nap and nighttime sleep disruption in a 2.5+ yo? Up at nights for 1-2 hours...not wanting to nap - normally 1 pm - 3 pm. I am thinking may potty issues...we've been having some success peeing in the potty during the days - initiated by dd and now we are constantly asking it she need to, to which the answer is yes 80 percent of the time. Or the other thing is crazy language and cognitive development. What do you all think?

Hi - you could run her by the Docs as ear infections cause wakings during naps and BT sleep. We're just recovering from an ear infection (which started with a cold) and although DS was fine during the day his ears seemed painful when he was lying down and we had lots of NW until antibiotics kicked in. - Just a thought............
Hope you're both feeling better very soon :)

Another possibility is that she may be ready to drop that nap.  This is a very trying stage as they want to give up the nap but they need it, kwim?  I think that it took dd a good 6 or so months to give up the nap by 33 mos.  Even now she will take a nap if she didn't have a good night's sleep but this is with reluctance.  LOL
