« on: February 03, 2008, 20:26:39 pm »
hiya

i dont know what to do bed times taking ages to settle early morning waking naps all over the place

Ive jst been reading some guides and shes usally has 1.5 in morning and 1 hr in pm im thinking of moving her am nap later and to only 45 mins then her pm nap for about 1.5 does this seem a good amount of sleep for her age ? also if i shorten her morning nap then she will prob want to sleep at around 1pm but if she only has a hour and half i doubt she will last till 7pm for bed ????????
Sorry for all this im confused never mind about baby !! lol

Can you be a bit more specific in about your routine?  Like what time she wakes up in the morning, when & how long she naps and when bedtime is?  Also any milestones you're going through at the moment.

Definitely too late to sleep two hours.
My lo is younger than yours but I think your original thought is good, limit the morning nap to 45 minutes so she will go down for the afternoon nap earlier.  I think 45 minutes plus 1.5 hours is enough at 12 months.  Maybe cut it to an hour for a little bit at first so it's not such a huge change.  Have you read any of the FAQs on the 2-1 nap switch?  You might find better advice there.

HI there - what Sarah is saying is true - I think you are in the midst of the switch (i'm there with you!).  If you shorten the first nap, put to bed a little earlier for the pm nap as they can't last as long as before. then it kind of evens out the day.  if you are worried then about too much pm sleep, you can always wake her by a certain time so she  goes down for bed at a preset time.

I'm also going to pop this over to the toddler sleep forum, so you may get some more age appropriate advice from some seasoned switchers! (at 12months, we consider them toddlers here  :))
