any one successfully changed from grobag to duvet?
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:25:26 am »
so Sophie decided on Friday at nap time she wanted a duvet, not her sleeping bag. I thought well, it's got to happen sometime so jsut went with it. So she's had the duvet for naps and night for 4 days now.
Naps are ok but we have had 1 night waking every night, she's kicking the duvet off and is cold, but the worst is the early wakings, she usually wakes at 7.15 but is waking at 6.15 because she's cold, and at that time won't go back to sleep because it's too near her usual wake time.
Having finally got her to sleep past 7am just before the age of 2 I really really don't want to go back to 6am wake ups, especially being pregnant and needing sooooooo much sleep at the moment. I am inclined to go back to grobag but I don't want to put her off the duvet.
what would you do??

Can you try warmer/extra pyjamas? It is cold at the moment, so maybe some extra snuggly socks, vest and some thicker pjs?
Caroline :)

hmmmm, then maybe she isn't cold, just missing the extra cover?

in your playtime, can you practise pulling the covers over herself, making it a game. you know, something like an over the top 'brrr, it's really cold, what can we do?' and then hiding under the covers (although I wouldn't put your head under, as she might start doing that at night). also, if she has teddies/dolls she loves, you can practise tucking them in, putting the emphasis on keeping them warm.

it might take a few days, but it's all I can come up with, we did it last year, but it was Summertime :-\

I guess it doesn't help that she has picked the coldest week of the year to do this  ::)
