Great news!

Yes, we BW are big believers in paying ti forward!

As for the clocks going forward, I'm not going to change anything. I bet in a weeks time my girls recalibrate to their "normal" times. Switching in the fall is the big hassle!

Good luck and keep us posted!

I just had to say WOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Great job!

As for the clocks, I think I'm going to take your approach Lu and see what happens.  The fall sucked!

Robyn - sucked is right! It was terrible! At that time my girls were EWing at 5:30 for the day, which made it 4:30. Oh, those were dark days!!!

I'm super excited that spring is on the way, my LO was born in September so hasn't really experienced a summer, can't wait to show him.
Ladies, I had one more question if you don't mind. Putting him to bed at 6.30pm worked again last night  :) and i'm going to be doing this from now on. But when will I know to start putting him to bed a little later? I know every child is different, but are there signs that I should be watching for or an age range?

Lu - ugh, ugh, ugh.  I am remembering all too well.  We were stuck at 5:30am for a long time (like 2 weeks)!  It was hell!!!  So maybe this time she'll be stuck an hour later...YEAH RIGHT!  A girl can dream though, right?

Michelle - sleeping in - WHAT'S THAT????  Here that would mean 7am!  But, oh, how I would love it!

Camys mum - sorry I can't be of help here.  Been wondering the same myself.  My first (now 2) always went to bed later (8pm) and slept more daytime hours, so I have no clue.  I do know that B has been doing 6:30 bedtime for over a month and then the last 3 nights she was to bed 15min, and 30min(2x) respectively and we've had 4:30 am moaning, then restless sleep until 6ish each day!  OOPS and YUK!!!  Thankfully she resettles herself, but I don't sleep.  And I guess she's not ready to be pushed even by 15 min.

I don't know what to tell you, hun. My girls go to bed at 6:30. There will come a point, I'm sure, where they will need less sleep overall. I guess I'll find that out as we go along! No help here!

RobYn - yes, a girl can dream. And can dream about sleeping in too! Ah, well...

I never really post, but have found the board very useful since my son was born. I wanted to share a little success I have had this week.

My son (almost 8 months old) starting waking up at 5:30 last week (normally I wake him at about 6:50 to feed him before I leave for work on weekdays or else he sleeps till about 7:00/7:15 on weekends). I would let him stay in his crib for a while, he would play but never fall back to sleep. I would get him out around 6:30/6:30 once he started to cry.

I was going to wait it out until the time change to see if that helped, but instead decided to implement w2s (as it was successful when he was 4 months old). The first two nights did not impact his wake time, so I decided that I would experiment with what time I was stirring him. And this morning I had success. He slept until 6:30 (not 7:00) but a big improvement. I plan to use w2s for two more mornings to ensure that he sleep time is adjusted.

The reason I decided to post was to encourage those who have tried w2s without success to maybe consider experimenting with what time they were actually waking their lo.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Hello!

That's great news, glad you posted!
You know, i'm finding that the whole BW philosophy has many different approaches and it's a good idea to try a few different options until you find one that works for you. I've always been too scared to try W2S,  ::) but good to hear that it's been working for you!
It's been great reading these boards too, to get ideas and share.

Hi I have been following this post as I am having similar issues. My LO used to go from 8 to 8 and now wakes up without fail every morning at 6:40-something :( I know that nearly 7 & some people aim for that but I am a night owl and she was previously doing 8 to 8 no problem, I often had to wake her at 8 or she would wake herself just before.
I have tried a few things suggested in your post-putting to bed an hour early(and as Camy’s mom said I was shivering in my boots) , she woke at the same time (so even if she didn’t sleep in, I was glad she was getting an hour extra).
I also tried not going until she gave an ‘I need u cry’ but she just wakes and lies there happily and v quietly, I have waited for ages & peeped in without her knowing and she just lies there, I haven’t waited for longer than 45 minutes as I thought that was long enough/too long to leave her lying alone.
I havent experimented with the dreamfeed time-I ually plan to do it at 10 but it ends up beign 10:20 most nights so might try to get it done earlier.
I was considering w2s and  I see it was successful for you mmesser

I actually tried it one morning-I went in at 5:40 and tossled her hair-my DD opened her eyes and then I gave her her soother and taggie and she went straight back to sleep and it had no impact. MMesser Im just curious as to how long before your LO's wake time did you try w2s?
Aslo just want to say thanks to everyone find this board so helpful.

I'm so scared to try w2s.  It was successfull for me for naps for a long time when B was 2-4mos old.  But then one day she just woke and it never seemed to go well after that.  So, now I'm a wimp.  I'd also be interested to hear if you go in one hour before.  That's what I've heard, but I see Button that it didn't help you.  I did read though that you should give it a go for 3 nights before you may see improvement.

I've used W2S with both my girls during the Night sleeps to great success. But definitely had to do it over several night. It didn't work for us for naps - but that's just us.

The biggest thing about BW is to follow your LO and their cues and do what you as a family are comfortable with. It's quite freeing, actually!

Glad to hear this post has helped several people!

Good luck to all of you!

congrats on a good night... I was putting my lo who is 7 months to bed at 8pm and he started waking earlier and earlier until it was 3am... not good.  I really believe later bed times cause 0T which cause EW.  He is now put to bed at 7pm and sleeps between 6:30am - 7am.  Learning by experience I am a full fan of early bed time... decent wake up time.

So sorry I did not respond sooner button. My son was waking at 5:40 and I initially tried an hour before (that did not seem to work so well). So then I tried 4:55/5:00 so about 40 minutes before and that did the trick. Also, be sure that you follow through and do it for 3 nights (at least) I actually did it for 4 nights. He slowly started to wake later (more like 6:20/6:30). This week he is now getting closer to 6:50 (which is when I typically wake him so I can feed him before I leave for work).
