Feeding schedule
« on: March 11, 2008, 02:37:36 am »
Hi
My dd is 10 months old and having mostly formula with usually 1 bottle a day of breast milk. She is also eating lts of solids.
So far i have been giving her a bottle every 3 hours with solids in between (probably 2x a day). I would like to put her on a more age appropriate eating routine.
what is the appropriate eating routine for her age?
also i'm wondering what are consists of a good well rounded meal at this age?
thanks

at ten months you could have:

morning bottle
solids breakfast
nap
bottle
solids lunch
nap
solids
bottle
bed

with maybe some snacks in between.
or if you want 4 bottles a day, bottle after second nap, small solids snack and bedtime bottle.

4 Milkfeeds during the day (9-11+ months).

7am - Milk
8.30am – Solids
11:30/12pm - Milk
12:30/1pm - Solids
3:30/4pm - Milk
4:30/5pm – Solids
6:30pm - Milk

I just read this and i have one questions.  My dd has her morning bottle between 6-6:30, then goes down for her nap around 9:00 or 9:30 and sleeps for 2 hours. Up until now i have been giving her a bottle before her nap but based on this routine it doesn't seem like i should be doing that. If i don't give her a bottle before her nap then it would be at least 5 hours between her first and second bottle of the day. To me that seems like too much time.  what should i do?

well, actually if you feed her some nice amount of solids for brekkie before the nap, it should be absolutely no problem that you have 5 or even more hrs between the bottles.
at her age you shouldn't really be worried that she's not having a bottle every 4 hrs- it's normal when you add more solids to the diet.

hm something pureed, like fruit puree or a jogurt. a medium jogurt cup portion would be fine I think. and maybe a few pieces of banana as finger food. or cheerios. or some other easy to chew and swallow or smooth fruits.
